Great option for getting started with exercise
This article offers a great way to get started with exercise. We all know exercise is so important for CFers and short, high intensity exercise has been shown to be really beneficial to all kinds of people. The method talked about in this article seems easy to follow, doesn't require special equipment or a gym and could be adapted to all fitness levels. I know I'll be giving this a try on days when I don't make it to the gym. http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/0...have-fun/?_r=0 (Source: Cystic Fibrosis Exercise and Fitness Forum)

help building muscle post lung transplant
So I had a lung transplant in 2004 11 years ago, am 39 now, male, with CF, I feel like Im a good weight considering my size and don't necessarily need to put on any more just general weight but do want to put on some muscle weight. Can anyone direct me to a good routine of getting into? I do have some dumbbells and weight bench, which I occasionally do but need a good plan on getting more muscle in my arms and legs. Or maybe some of you with CF who work with weights can give me some insight on doing this. Thanks (Source: Cystic Fibrosis Exercise and Fitness Forum)

Exercise or Albuteral - Similar Effects
Interesting article on the benefits of exercise for CFers. It contains links to recent research comparing moderate exercise to the effects of albuteral. One of the things I found most interesting though was the researchers recommendations for moderate exercise compared to light exercise or intense workouts. Bottom line seems to point to improved longevity, increased lung function and increase quality of life when your lifestyle includes sustained moderate exercise. Be sure to click on the research links for interesting info. http://cysticfibrosisnewstoday.com/2...enjoying-life/ (Source: Cystic Fibrosis Exercise and Fitness Forum)

Battling CF kyphosis
What are you experiences in improving structural CF related kyphosis? Have you been able to regain mobility in your thoracic spine? After a long period of malnutrition and sickness in my teens, my spine and posture were pretty bad leading into my 20's. My posture and muscular strength have improved a lot since then. Problem is my spine itself. It has the typical CF curvature combined with barrel chest which makes it seem optically worse. (Same as my sister and a lot of CF'ers my age, it seems.) My spine is pretty stubborn. Months ago I purchased a foam roller to aid muscle recovery, fight aches, pains and improve mob...

Explain how my PFTs went from 111% last month to 94% today
I'm sad and confused. How does this happen?? Last time I got my PFT was from my general doctor using some fancy handheld one I got 111% , and now at my CF clinic with their bulky computer and special nose plug and what not I scored 94%. It's depressing and confusing. explaon this to me please! the only thing that has changed since the PFT done a month (and a half) ago and now is I go to the gym 4 days a week whereas before I'd go 3 days a week. For for the past few days, it's been remarkably windy btw. Everyone here has been talking about how it's so windy and we even had a little dust storm (that was video taped and...

Is muscle building different for me because i have cf?
So I really feel that its different for me... some how. Its harder for me to make muscular gains. I eat a ton of calories (well, I sorta THINK I do lol), I workout 4-5x a week lifting weights. i've been weighing myself every few days, and it ends up i haven't gained any weight which is a really good sign that someone is building muscle so do those with cf build muscle differently?
