Combined Treatment of Progressive Encephalitis in an X-linked Agammaglobulinemia Patient
We describe a patient with progressive encephalitis who improved after the use of immunomodulatory treatment with corticosteroids, fluoxetine, and nitazoxanide. In most of the cases the evolution of the progressive encephalitis is complicated and catastrophic. Based on our experience and the review of the literature, we propose the use of this combined treatment to control this devastating complication.PMID:38085151 | DOI:10.18502/ijaai.v22i5.13999 (Source: Iranian Journal of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology)

Ablated Sonic Hedgehog Signaling in the Dentate Gyrus of the Dorsal and Ventral Hippocampus Impairs Hippocampal-Dependent Memory Tasks and Emotion in a Rat Model of Depression
In conclusion, Shh is essential to maintain the functional heterogeneity of dHip and vHip in depressed rat, which was mainly mediating by local changes of dependent activa tion and maturity of immature neurons, respectively. (Source: Molecular Neurobiology)

In silico ecotoxicity assessment of pharmaceutical residues in wastewater following oxidative treatment
In conclusion, in silico extrapolation of experimental findings can provide useful predicted estimates of mixture toxicity. However due to the complex composition of wastewater this in silico approach is a first step to screen for ecotoxicity. It is recommendable to confirm these predictions with ecotoxic bioassays.PMID:38056612 | DOI:10.1016/j.envres.2023.117833 (Source: Environmental Research)

Efficacy of pharmacotherapies for bulimia nervosa: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: This meta-analysis indicates that most pharmacotherapies decreased the frequency of binge-eating and vomiting episodes, body weight, and depressive symptoms in BN patients, but the efficacy was not significant. In each drug the efficacy is different, treating different aspects, different symptoms to improve the clinical performance of bulimia nervosa.PMID:38042827 | DOI:10.1186/s40360-023-00713-7 (Source: BMC Pharmacology and Toxicology)
