Annotating the Role of 18F-FDG PET/CT in Fibromatoses: A Benign Masquerader of Malignancies —Is It Really an Advantageous Tool?
AbstractFibromatoses are a heterogeneous group of benign proliferating fibroblasts and myofibroblasts which have a high predilection for recurrence and local invasion, especially deep fibromatoses or desmoid fibromatosis.18F-FDG PET/CT, the workhorse of oncological imaging in nuclear medicine, can be employed to figure out the nature and aggressiveness of the lesions and various sites of involvement and to monitor treatment response to systemic therapies like tyrosine kinase inhibitors in case of deep or desmoid fibromatoses which is shown in the current research work. Endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal surgery for unusual sellar lesions: eight cases and review of the literature
ConclusionOur study retrospectively analyzed eight unusual lesions of the sellar region. Some lesions exhibit specific imaging characteristics and clinical details that can aid in preoperative diagnosis and inform treatment strategies for these unusual sellar diseases. Managing Coexistent Triad of Ovarian Tumors while Conserving Ovarian Function
AbstractThe coexistence of three histologically distinct ovarian tumors is exceedingly rare, posing challenges for accurate diagnosis and management. This case report presents a young woman with concurrent endometriotic cyst and fibroma in one ovary, as well as a mature cystic teratoma in the other. Surgical priority centered on completely removing the tumors while preserving healthy ovarian tissue. While the dermoid and endometriotic cysts were excised completely through laparoscopy, a laparotomy was necessary to excise the firm, irregular mass (fibroma) and conserve the remaining ovarian tissue. Although laparoscopy is a...

Recurrence of a Desmoid Tumour in a Scar at the Donor Site of a Latissimus Dorsi Flap
Handchir Mikrochir Plast Chir. 2024 Feb 5. doi: 10.1055/a-2231-6343. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA desmoid tumour, also known as aggressive fibrous tumour or desmoid fibromatosis, is a rare, benign tumour originating from connective tissue cells. Desmoid tumours account for approximately 0.03+% of all neoplasms and less than 3+% of all soft tissue tumours. The estimated incidence in the general population is 2 to 4 cases per million people per year [1]. Desmoid tumours are characterised by aggressive growth but typically do not metastasize. They often occur in young adults and preferably affect specific body regions such...

Acquired Digital Fibrokeratoma: A Report of Five Cases and Review of the Literature
Clin Cosmet Investig Dermatol. 2024 Jan 30;17:247-252. doi: 10.2147/CCID.S447798. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTAcquired digital fibrokeratoma (ADF) is rare in clinical practice and is easily misdiagnosed. Herein, 5 cases of patients (3 males and 2 females) with ADF are reported. The mean age at onset was 42.6 years, and the mean disease duration was 3 years. Four patients had ADF on the hands, and 1 patient had ADF on the foot. The clinical manifestations were all solitary, skin-colored papules, with a firm texture and smooth surface, protruding from the skin surface. In 3 patients, ADF manifested as columnar protrusions, and ...

Role of collagen and immunostaining for TGF- β in the clinical and microscopic findings of pyogenic granuloma and peripheral ossifying fibroma
CONCLUSIONS: Although PG and POF are reactive gingival lesions, the expression of TGF-β and its role in collagen showed different biological behaviors in these lesions, suggesting different biological origins for its components.PMID:38288849 | DOI:10.4317/medoral.26268 (Source: Medicina Oral, Patologia Oral y Cirugia Bucal)

Chondromyxoid fibroma of the lumbar facet joint: A case report
Exp Ther Med. 2024 Jan 8;27(2):92. doi: 10.3892/etm.2024.12381. eCollection 2024 Feb.ABSTRACTChondromyxoid fibroma (CMF) is a rarely documented benign osseous neoplasm, particularly with respect to its incidence in the lumbar spinal region. CMF predominantly manifests in vertebral bodies, exhibiting atypical emergence in ancillary anatomical sites. The present report describes, to the best of our knowledge, the second documented instance of CMF originating from the lumbar facet joint. The present case provides an example of CMF in the lumbar facet joint precipitating spinal canal stenosis, thereby engendering neurological ...

Superficial Acral Fibromyxoma: A Report of Two Cases with CD68 Expression
Clin Cosmet Investig Dermatol. 2024 Jan 17;17:117-123. doi: 10.2147/CCID.S441055. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTSuperficial Acral fibroma (SAF), also known as osteofibroma, is a rare fibromatous tumor primarily involving superficial soft tissues. Clinically, SAF typically manifests as a slow-growing, solitary, well-defined nodule or mass. Although these lesions are generally asymptomatic, some cases may present with associated pain, often linked to a history of trauma. SAF lesions commonly exhibit hemispherical, polypoid, or warty growths, with occasional occurrences of ulceration and bleeding. The majority of SAFs express CD34 ...

Cutaneous ultrasound of the nuchal-type fibroma: diagnostic clues and surgery planning
AbstractNuchal-type fibroma is a rare, benign tumour, arising from the connective tissue and characterized by their usual location in the posterior neck, although extra-nuchal locations may also occur. The excision of nuchal-type fibroma is curative, although it presents as a large poorly circumscribed lesion in the dermal and subcutaneous fat layer, with adipose tissue and muscle fascicles entrapment, what can lead to partial excisions and relapses. Due to its rarity, little is known about the sonographic appearances of nuchal-type fibroma. An early identification and correct extension evaluation is essential to facilitat...
