Eszopiclone dependence and withdrawal - myth?
We all know the risks of dependence with benzodiazepines and such, and Z-drugs wre marketed as safer and less tolerance/dependence inducing drugs than benzos. Thing is, we've all seen a lot of patients developing tolerance and dependence to Ambien; ofc there is a strong component of psychological dependence, but that is certainly not all. I've seen eszopiclone being recomended as a hypnotic more often lately, marketed as a drug that doesn't alter the sleep-wake cycle as much, and has a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Whats your approach to controlled substances?
When is comes to Testosterone, sleep (zolpidem/lunesta/etc), anxiety (BDZ), ADHD meds, opioids... Do you prescribe these? If no, why? Do you see these patients every 3 months/6 months/annually prior to continuing refilling these meds? Require specialist check in annually (ie. Psych with ADHD)? Do you have a contract with all or just specific drugs? And any other information you wanna share Just curious what other providers' routine is when it comes to these meds. Thanks. CIII Filling (Specifically Suboxone)
A patient on Suboxone, prescribed by a Pain Management Specialist with a Buprenorphine Waiver, who doesnt fall into the normal box and has a complex medical history, meaning quitting all other substances with dependency potential is not an option, has landed in a difficult situation. The MD was prescribing Suboxone and Percocet (Yes I know, that is counterintuitive, but that's not the focus of this question). Other MDs have been prescribing Phenobarbital, Fiorocet, Lunesta, Diastat, all MDs... CIII Filling (Specifically Suboxone) (Source: Student Doctor Network)

above and beyond for customers
I'm a technician at my pharmacy I work at (its a retail chain) and I often find myself being the only person actually trying to help a customer out with a prescription cost. Mainly with name brand prescription drugs like crestor, tradjenta, viagra, lunesta, azor, etc..... Most of the people who take these are older and have medicare or some sort of HMO from medicare and for the most part their prescriptions are covered for a good amount of the cost, but then they fall into the dreaded donut hole. "Oh hi sir, coming to get you Tradjenta? Ok it will be $265. Patient: WHATTTT? I paid $15 for the last 6 months?" ...
