Five new species of snail-sucking snakes discovered
(American Museum of Natural History) New research led by the American Museum of Natural History has uncovered five new species of snakes in Ecuador and Peru with peculiar dining etiquette: they suck the viscous bodies of snails out of their shells. InspireMD wins regulatory nod in Ecuador for CGuard, MGuard
InspireMD (NYSE:NSPR) said this week it won regulatory approval in Ecuador for its CGuard embolic prevention system and MGuard Prime devices.
The approval comes shortly after the company inked an exclusive distribution agreement with Ecuadorian medical device distributor Cardiobene, Israel-based InspireMD said. Both companies have worked together to secure regulatory approvals in the country, InspireMD added.

(Universidad de San Martin de Porres) A study of the Inka origins and their lineages was performed in twelve contemporary families with presumed patrilineal lineage to Inka monarchs. A comparison of Y-chromosome and mtDNA markers of these descendants with a database of about 2400 South American native individuals of Peru, Bolivia, Brasil and Ecuador showed two distinct patrilineal clusters, and a very diverse matrilineal origin.
