Thoughts on Dyslexia in Med. School
BACKGROUND: I have had dyslexia my whole life and it's not going anywhere! I have learned to deal with it and am fortunate to have a mild case. I was never officially diagnosed; I could be but don’t see the point. I was the kid that did great on homework and did just okay on tests unless it was a test where we got to talk in front of the class or we got to explain our reasoning. Anyways, my biggest issues that I struggle with is getting my words backwards when I talk sometimes, I am not... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Any Students with Learning Disabilities?
Anyone here have a learning disability? How are you coping? I am a first year vet student and feel like I won't ever be able to keep up with the workload. I have autism, adhd, and dyslexia. Anatomy is killing me because I can't pronounce or spell any of the structures so its really hard to be able to study. In high school and undergrad I usually had to study at least double what the average person did, but with the intense workload there's not enough hours in the day to do that. I do have... What if Albert tells you not to get involved and that he can stand up for himself? Talk about a time where you smoothed over a tense situation. Discuss Below... Dyslexia ADHD as adult
Was reading a resident who had trouble passing board exams after med school, so step 3. Is that a psychiatric diagnosis? Who is best to help assess the testing “accommodation”? School psychologist? Specialized pediatrician? Trying to pick some brains here. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

NBME Accommodations Denial
Dear Medical Students and Physicians, I've been a longtime sufferer of ADHD and dyslexia and have been receiving accommodations through college and medical school. I did not apply for accommodations for the MCAT in fear of discrimination and now I regret it. I took the MCAT twice and even then I did not finish any sections and had to select the lucky "C" for at least 2 passages a piece. I applied for NBME accommodations for Step 1 and was DENIED I've sent them the most complete... NBME Accommodations Denial (Source: Student Doctor Network)
