Effect of laser etching on surface characteristics of and porcelain bond to soft milled and direct metal laser sintered cobalt chromium alloys
The surface topography of metal substrate can affect its bond to porcelain. A neodynium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) laser has been introduced to modify the metal surface topography and improve porcelain bond strength. However, studies on the effect of laser etching on metal to porcelain bond strength are lacking. (Source: Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry)

Three-dimensional assessment of upper airway changes associated with mandibular positional deviations following fibula free flap reconstruction
ConclusionsThe overall accuracy of mandibular reconstructions with FFF is high, but there is room for optimization. The focus of research should be extended from masticatory to respiratory rehabilitation.Clinical relevanceEffects on respiratory function should be considered prior to graft positioning. The clinical relevance of upper airway changes within the complex rehabilitation of reconstructive surgery patients needs to be further investigated. (Source: Clinical Oral Investigations)

Respiratory outcomes after cleft palate closure in Robin sequence: a retrospective study
ConclusionsThe possible risk factors for these outcomes were a low preoperative weight and history of TLA. Closer postoperative surveillance should be considered for patients with these risk factors.Clinical relevanceIdentifying risk factors for respiratory complications could provide clinicians better insight into their patients and allows them to provide optimal care for their patients. Vital pulp therapy of permanent teeth with irreversible pulpitis
Hua Xi Kou Qiang Yi Xue Za Zhi. 2023 Dec 1;41(6):622-627. doi: 10.7518/hxkq.2023.2023193.ABSTRACTTraditionally, vital pulp therapy (VPT) is mainly indicated for young permanent teeth. However, in recent years, VPT has been increasingly applied to mature permanent teeth. VPT was previously thought to be effective only for teeth with normal pulp or reversible pulpitis. However, an increasing body of evidence has demonstrated that VPT can successfully manage permanent teeth with irreversible pulpitis or apical periodontitis. This work discusses which teeth with irreversible pulpitis or apical periodontitis are suitable for VP...

Assessment of jaw bone mineral density, resorption rates, and oral health in patients with severe hemophilia: a case-control study
Conclusions: Because of poor oral hygiene, high bone resorption, and low bone mineral density in these patients, clinicians should consider potential bone changes when planning to treat these patients.PMID:38597918 | DOI:10.2340/aos.v83.40337 (Source: Acta Odontologica Scandinavica)
