Orthofix swings to Q4 black
Orthofix (NSDQ:OFIX) yesterday put black ink in the ledger for the fourth quarter and beat the consensus forecast as it contemplates moving its corporate registration from Curacao to the U.S.
The Lewisville, Texas-based orthopedics company posted profits of $1.6 million, or 8¢ per share, on sales of $116.9 million for the three months ended Dec. 31, 2017, compared with losses of -$3.2 million on sales growth of 7.7% over Q4 2016.
Adjusted to exclude one-time items, earnings per share were 52¢, two pennies ahead of Wall Street, where analysts were looking for sales of $114.5 million.

Smith & Nephew mulls 100-worker Ft Worth expansion
Smith & Nephew (NYSE:SNN) is considering an expansion to its Ft. Worth, Texas facilities that would add an additional 100 jobs, according to a Star Telegram report.
Smith & Nephew is seeking a tax abatement to aid in its expansion, with Ft. Worth offering a 5-year abatement on 55% of the property taxes once it completes its planned $25.7 million expansion, incurring savings of approximately $530,000, the paper said.
With the deal, the company would have to expand on its workforce, currently employing 83 individuals, to add an additional 100 jobs by 2022.

Larry Shackelford Named as Washington Regional's Next CEO (Movers & Shakers)
J. Larry Shackelford will assume the role of CEO at Washington Regional Medical System in Fayetteville on Sept. 1. This follows William L. Bradley’s announcement last year that he plans to retire this November as CEO of the medical system.

Sonova buys AudioNova in $953m deal
(Reuters) — Swiss hearing aid maker Sonova Holding AG (SIX:SOON) is buying Dutch-based AudioNova for €830 million ($953 million), its largest acquisition, to expand a network of European stores where it will jettison rivals’ products in favor of its own.
The cash deal to buy AudioNova from Curacao-based investment company HAL Holding N.V. will add 1,300 stores in 8 European countries. That more than doubles Sonova’s presence in Europe and boosts its worldwide store total to more than 3,300.
