A review of stereotactic ablative radiotherapy for nonmetastatic renal cell carcinoma
AbstractRenal cell carcinoma (RCC) is an uncommon malignancy whose incidence has been increasing over the past few decades, posing treatment challenges for elderly or infirm patients who are not surgical candidates. Stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) has emerged as a promising non-invasive treatment modality for RCC. The high dose-per-fraction used in SABR overcomes some of the mechanisms of radioresistance that has hindered the effective treatment of RCC with conventional radiotherapy. For primary RCC, local control rates for SABR exceed 90%, with typically minimal grade 3 or higher toxicities, offering a viable al...

Concordance between renal tumour biopsy and robotic-assisted partial and radical nephrectomy histology: a 10-year experience
AbstractWe aimed to assess concordance between renal tumour biopsy (RTB) and surgical pathology from robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) or robotic-assisted radical nephrectomy (RARN). Patients with preoperative RTB undergoing RAPN or RARN for suspected malignancy (9 September 2013 –9 September 2023) were enrolled retrospectively from three sites. Patients were excluded if the tumour had prior cryotherapy or if biopsy or nephrectomy histology were unavailable or inconclusive. The primary outcome was concordance with the presence/absence of malignancy. Secondary outcomes were concordance with tumour subtype, World...

Cryotherapy versus radiofrequency ablation in the treatment of dysplastic Barrett's esophagus with or without early esophageal neoplasia: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Cryotherapy and RFA were equally effective in treating dysplastic BE, with or without early esophageal neoplasia.PMID:38229440 | DOI:10.5946/ce.2023.065 (Source: Clinical Endoscopy)

Effectiveness of cryotherapy delivered by nurses for treatment of cervical preneoplasic lesions
Conclusions. Cure and regression rates by colposcopic verification are like those reported for cryotherapy delivered by doctors. The sample size (CIN2/3) hinders comparisons by type of verification. Our findings support the implementation of screen-and-treat algorithms by nurses among populations with limited access to health services.PMID:38207156 | DOI:10.7705/biomedica.6966 (Source: Biomedica : Revista del Instituto Nacional de Salud)
