Safety and Efficacy of Inpatient Infliximab Rescue Therapy for Acute Crohn's Disease Flares
CONCLUSION: Inpatient rescue infliximab is safe for treating acute Crohn's disease flare in addition to standard steroid therapy. The majority of patients hospitalized with Crohn's flare requiring rescue infliximab avoided surgery with low postoperative and medication-related complications. More research is needed to clarify the optimal rescue infliximab therapy dosage.PMID:38597300 | DOI:10.1177/00031348241246160 (Source: The American Surgeon)

"Decoding inflammation: glycoprotein a repetition predominant, microRNA-142-3-p, and metastasis associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1: as novel inflammatory biomarkers of inflammatory bowel disease"
CONCLUSIONS: Dysregulation of GARP, MALAT1, and miR-142-3p likely contributes to inflammation in IBD by reducing TGF-β. MALAT1 is linked to smoking and age-related changes. These genes have potential as diagnostic markers or therapeutic targets for personalized IBD treatment.PMID:38598005 | DOI:10.1007/s11033-024-09475-9 (Source: Molecular Biology Reports)

Homotherapy for heteropathy: Interleukin-41 and its biological functions
Immunology. 2024 Apr 9. doi: 10.1111/imm.13791. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTInterleukin-41 (IL-41) is a newly discovered cytokine, named Cometin, Subfatin, meteorin-like transcription (Metrnl), and so forth. It is widely expressed in animals and can exert its biological roles through autocrine and paracrine forms. It has functions such as anti-inflammatory, improving body metabolism, regulating immunity, regulating fat metabolism and participates in the process of autoimmune disease or inflammatory injury. It plays an important role in psoriasis, diabetes, Crohn's disease (CD), osteoarthritis, Kawasaki disease (KD), Grav...

Capsule endoscopy and panendoscopy: A journey to the future of gastrointestinal endoscopy
World J Gastroenterol. 2024 Mar 14;30(10):1270-1279. doi: 10.3748/wjg.v30.i10.1270.ABSTRACTIn 2000, the small bowel capsule revolutionized the management of patients with small bowel disorders. Currently, the technological development achieved by the new models of double-headed endoscopic capsules, as miniaturized devices to evaluate the small bowel and colon [pan-intestinal capsule endoscopy (PCE)], makes this non-invasive procedure a disruptive concept for the management of patients with digestive disorders. This technology is expected to identify which patients will require conventional invasive endoscopic procedures (c...

Differential diagnosis of Crohn's disease and intestinal tuberculosis based on ATR-FTIR spectroscopy combined with machine learning
CONCLUSION: Information on the mid-infrared region can reveal the different histological components of CD and ITB at the molecular level, and spectral analysis combined with machine learning to establish a diagnostic model is expected to become a new method for the differential diagnosis of CD and ITB.PMID:38596500 | PMC:PMC11000079 | DOI:10.3748/wjg.v30.i10.1377 (Source: World Journal of Gastroenterology : WJG)
