Serum sodium level fluctuations following the resection of childhood ‐onset craniopharyngioma
ConclusionsSerum sodium levels after craniopharyngioma resection in children showed a triphasic pattern in most cases. The risk of postoperative hyponatremia varied depending on preoperative endocrine hormone deficiency, tumor status (primary or recurrent), and surgical approach. (Source: Brain and Behavior)

Primary central nervous system tumors survival in children in ten Colombian cities: a VIGICANCER report
ConclusionWe found that half of Colombia’s children and adolescents with primary CNS tumors survive five years, compared to 70% to 80% in high-income countries. In addition to tumor biology and location, gross total resection was crucial for improved survival in this cohort. Systematic monitoring of survival and its determinants provides empirical data for guiding cancer control policies. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

Clinical Characteristics of Childhood-Onset Craniopharyngioma
CONCLUSIONS: For pediatric patients with calcification, >2 cm, cystic or mixed intracranial mass lesions, CP tumors should be considered, and early neuroendocrine function evaluation and further surgical treatment should be performed to avoid delayed diagnosis.PMID:38401066 (Source: Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine)

Unraveling the Complexity of the Senescence-Associated Secretory Phenotype in Adamantinomatous Craniopharyngioma Using Multi-Modal Machine Learning Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: A complex interplay between cellular senescence, cytokine signaling, and gene expression pathways underlies ACP development. Further research is crucial to understand how these elements interact to create novel therapeutic approaches for patients with ACP.PMID:38334125 | DOI:10.1093/neuonc/noae015 (Source: Ann Oncol)

Integrating Systemic Therapies into the Multimodality Therapy of Patients with Craniopharyngioma
In conclusion, targeted therapy with BRAF/MEK inhibitors holds great promise for improving outcomes and quality of life for patients with BRAF-mutated craniopharyngiomas. However, additional research is needed to address the questions that remain about its optimal use and integration into comprehensive treatment plans. (Source: Current Treatment Options in Oncology)

Prognostic impact of hypothalamic perforation in adult patients with craniopharyngioma: a cohort study
CONCLUSION: Craniopharyngiomas located below the hypothalamus or perforating it can be safely treated by transsphenoidal surgery. For supra-hypothalamic craniopharyngiomas, postoperative results are less favorable, and documenting a BRAF-mutation may improve outcome, if targeted therapy was efficient enough to replace surgical debulking.PMID:38287910 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae049 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)
