Interaction of indoor air contaminants and respiratory health among children in the daycare centers
The objective of this study was to investigate the correlation between IAQ and respiratory health implications in children and to identify patterns in IAQ using chemometric analysis. A total of 100 children aged 4 to 6 from 5 urban DCCs in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, were included in the study. The selected IAQ variables comprised temperature, humidity, air velocity, particulate matter, carbon dioxide (CO2) levels, airborne bacteria, and fungi. Reported respiratory health symptoms were collected along with sociodemographic and exposure history. There was a significant difference in the median concentration of PM10, PM2.5, tem...

Camptodactyly-arthropathy-coxa vara-pericarditis syndrome and an unusual association with mitral stenosis
CONCLUSIONS: The main defect is the proteoglycan 4 protein which acts like a lubricant in articular and visceral surfaces. Therefore, the leading clinical feature is arthropathy. Cardiac involvement other than clinically mild pericarditis is not usually expected. Three types of proteoglycans (decorin, biglycan, and versican) are present in the mitral valve. This could be the reason of mitral valve involvement in rare cases as like ours. It is important that these patients undergo echocardiographic examination regularly.PMID:38523390 | DOI:10.24953/turkjped.2023.647 (Source: The Turkish Journal of Pediatrics)

Maternal Vaccination in Pregnancy: An Assessment of Influenza, Pertussis, and COVID-19 Vaccination Rates in Cracow, Poland
Med Sci Monit. 2024 Mar 12;30:e943304. doi: 10.12659/MSM.943304.ABSTRACTBACKGROUND Maternal vaccination during pregnancy reduces the risk of severe course and complications from infections both for the mother and her child. As information regarding immunization status of pregnant women with recommended vaccines in Poland is scarce, this questionnaire-based study aimed to identify influenza, pertussis (whooping cough), and COVID-19 vaccination in 205 pregnant women in Cracow, Poland, between February and April 2023. Another objective was to assess whether any of the maternal factors might influence women's decision to inocu...
