Diversity Essay Ideas
So I have four ideas with which to write my diversity essay. I can't seem to decide which one sounds to best: 1) My parents were hesitant towards modern medicine for cultural reasons, and I was treated with homeopathy for post-operative care as a child until we went back to a physician. I need some help with actually describing how this would contribute to the diversity of a medical school class though. However, I can relate to some of the psychological barriers patients face when receiving... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advice on mentioning misdiagnosis and alternative medicine on Personal Statement?
Hi, I’m currently in the process of writing my personal statement. A large part of my reason to go into medicine was that my sister had intense chronic pain that for a long period of time, she was diagnosed differently by multiple doctors and treatments were never effective. Our family physician didn’t give up on her case and eventually referred us to an alternative medicine practitioner (who practiced something similar to OMT) who was able to eliminate her pain. We never really understood... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

School suggestions: Botanical Medicine to Allopathic Medical School?
Hi! I am currently a 4th-year student at Emory University, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Linguistics. As of recently, I have decided to take two gap years instead of one, but I will be moving to the UK in September to get my MSc in Ethnobotany from the University of Kent, and my MS (online) in Clinical Herbal Medicine (resulting in RH -- registered herbalist -- certification w/ 400 clinical hours) from the Maryland University of Integrative Health with clinical work... Amen clinics
I had not heard of this till today, where a patient with worsening anxiety and her mother were convinced they needed holistic healing methods..They do things like IV vitamin replacement therapy and charge patients 4,000 for MRIs essentially...Ironically it was started by an actual psychiatrist (though a very controversial one to say the least) and now he has a chain of these. I have not found an effective way to reason with people who are convinced these alternative therapies are the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Diploma in Homeopathy Medicine and Surgery
This might be a long-overdue question but my Mom did her Diploma in Homeopathy Medicine and Surgery in 1994 in India but never really pursued it because it didn't pay well back then. Now in the United States, I thought it would be a good option for her to research more about it, after all, she did go to med school. Unfortunately, I don't know who to talk to or where to start. I don't even know if homeopathy is a good career option in this era. Anyways, any information would help! Thanks... Diploma in Homeopathy Medicine and Surgery (Source: Student Doctor Network)
