Histology Findings after Two Years of Cytology/HPV Co-Testing in Germany
CONCLUSION: More CIN lesions were found with co-testing, but the increase in histology findings of low-grade or no dysplasia was far greater than findings of CIN3. Lesions not requiring treatment accounted for 94.4% of biopsy results in 2020/21. The use of computer-assisted LBC with progression markers could reduce this.PMID:38618577 | PMC:PMC11006558 | DOI:10.1055/a-2265-3578 (Source: Geburtshilfe und Frauenheilkunde)

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1430: PAX1/JAM3 Methylation and HPV Viral Load in Women with Persistent HPV Infection
Ren Lihui Wei The relationship of PAX1/JAM3 methylation as well as HPV viral load (VL) with cervical lesions has been reported, but their role in persistent HPV infection without cervical high-grade lesions has not been fully elucidated. A total of 231 females diagnosed with persistent HPV infection and pathologically confirmed absence of high-grade cervical lesions were selected from the Colposcopy Outpatient Clinic of Peking University People’s Hospital, from March 2023 to December 2023. They were categorized into two groups based on the duration of HPV infection: the HPV persistent less than 3 years ...

Epidemiological survey and risk factor analysis of high-risk human papillomavirus in women in Longgang District, Shenzhen
CONCLUSION: The common HPV infection types among women in Longgang district were mainly 52, 16, 58, 53, and 51, with a predominance of a single type of infection. The positive rate and pathogenicity of HPV 52 were higher than HPV 16. Women aged 30-60 years should be included in priority screening for cervical lesions. The six factors of miscarriage, number of sexual partners, cervicitis, vaginitis, staying up late, and mental status were risk factors for HPV infection occurrence.PMID:38581329 (Source: Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine)

HPV DNA Testing and Mobile Colposcopy for Cervical Precancer Screening in HIV Positive Women: A Comparison Between Two Settings in Ghana and Recommendation for Screening
CONCLUSIONS: There is a high prevalence of hr-HPV among WLHIV in both rural and urban settings in this study in Ghana. Concurrent HPV DNA testing with a visual inspection method (colposcopy/VIA) reduces loss to follow-up compared to performing HPV DNA testing as a standalone test and recalling hr-HPV positive women for follow up with a visual inspection method. Concurrent HPV DNA testing and a visual inspection method may also pick up precancerous cervical lesions that are hr-HPV negative and may be missed if HPV DNA testing is performed alone.PMID:38563112 | DOI:10.1177/10732748241244678 (Source: Cancer Control)

Diagnosis and Management of Cervical Squamous Intraepithelial Lesions in Pregnancy and Postpartum
Obstet Gynecol. 2024 Mar 29. doi: 10.1097/AOG.0000000000005566. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPerinatal care provides important health care opportunities for many individuals at risk for cervical cancer. Pregnancy does not alter cervical cancer screening regimens. ASCCP risk-based management has a colposcopy threshold of a 4% immediate risk of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) 3 or cancer, but the actual risk can be considerably higher based on current and past screening results. Improving cervical cancer outcomes with diagnosis during pregnancy rather than postpartum and facilitating further evaluation and treatmen...
