CONCLUSION: A reliable methodology was developed for preparing precursor followed by fully automated radiolabeling using [11C]MeOTf as a methylating agent to synthesize [11C]PiB. The final HPLC-free purification yielded more than 97% radiochemical purity tracer within one radionuclide half-life. The method was reproducible and efficient for any clinical center.PMID:38454773 | DOI:10.2174/0118744710295705240229114137 (Source: Current Radiopharmaceuticals)

Reversible Sensing Technologies Using Upcycled TPEE: Crafting pH and Light Responsive Materials towards Sustainable Monitoring
A dual responsive (light and pH) spiropyran-based smart sensor is fabricated by a simple layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly process from upcycled thermoplastic polyester elastomer (TPEE) materials derived from recycled polyethylene terephthalate (r-PET). Positively charged chitosan solutions and negatively charged merocyanine-COOH (MC-COOH) solutions are employed in the LbL assembly technique, forming the chitosan-spiropyran deposited TPEE (TPEE-CH-SP) film. AbstractMultiresponsive materials with reversible and durable characteristics are indispensable because of their promising applications in environmental change detections. ...

Characterization of ES10 lytic bacteriophage isolated from hospital waste against multidrug-resistant uropathogenic E. coli
This study aimed the isolation and detailed characterization of lytic bacteriophage designated as ES10 capable of lysing multidrug-resistant uropathogenic E. coli. ES10 had icosahedral head and non-contractile tail and genome size was 48,315 base pairs long encoding 74 proteins. Antibiotics resistance, virulence and lysogenic cycle associated genes were not found in ES10 phage genome. Morphological and whole genome analysis of ES10 phage showed that ES10 is the member of Drexlerviridae. Latent time of ES10 was 30 min, burst size was 90, and optimal multiplicity of infection was 1. ES10 was stable in human blood and subsequ...

BMSC Alleviates Dry Eye by Inhibiting the ROS-NLRP3-IL-1 β Signaling Axis by Reducing Inflammation Levels
CONCLUSION: BMSCs inhibit ROS-NLRP3-IL-1β signaling axis, reducing inflammation levels and alleviating dry eye symptoms. These findings provide new ideas and a basis for the treatment of DED and provide an experimental basis for further research on the application value of BMSCs in alleviating DED.PMID:38450655 | DOI:10.1080/02713683.2024.2324434 (Source: Cell Research)

Pioglitazone, a peroxisome proliferator ‑activated receptor γ agonist, induces cell death and inhibits the proliferation of hypoxic HepG2 cells by promoting excessive production of reactive oxygen species
Oncol Lett. 2024 Feb 19;27(4):160. doi: 10.3892/ol.2024.14294. eCollection 2024 Apr.ABSTRACTHypoxia is a hallmark of solid tumors. Hypoxic cancer cells adjust their metabolic characteristics to regulate the production of cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and facilitate ROS-mediated metastasis. Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) is a nuclear receptor that regulates the transcription of fatty acid metabolism-related genes that have a key role in the survival and proliferation function of hypoxic cancer cells. In the present study, mRNA expression in HepG2 cells under chemically induced hypoxia was as...

CO Cofeeding Affects Product Distribution in CH3Cl Coupling over ZSM-5 Zeolite: Pressure Twists the Plot
Angew Chem Int Ed Engl. 2024 Mar 7:e202401060. doi: 10.1002/anie.202401060. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTC1 coupling reactions over zeolite catalysts are central to sustainable chemical production strategies. However, questions persist regarding the involvement of CO in ketene formation, and the impact of this elusive oxygenate intermediate on reactivity patterns. Using operando photoelectron photoion coincidence spectroscopy (PEPICO), we investigate the role of CO in methyl chloride conversion to hydrocarbons (MCTH), a prospective process for methane valorization with a reaction network akin to methanol to hydrocarbons (...

Fisetin alleviates cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury by regulating Sirt1/Foxc1/Ubqln1 pathway-mediated proteostasis
CONCLUSION: Fisetin improved proteostasis during cerebral IRI by regulating the Sirt1/Foxc1/Ubqln1 signaling axis. Our findings strongly suggest that fisetin-mediated inhibition of protein damage after ischemic stroke is a part of the mechanism through which fisetin is neuroprotective in cerebral IRI.PMID:38452414 | DOI:10.1016/j.intimp.2024.111742 (Source: International Immunopharmacology)
