Improving saccharification efficiency of corn stover through ferric chloride-deep eutectic solvent pretreatment
Bioresour Technol. 2024 Mar 11:130579. doi: 10.1016/j.biortech.2024.130579. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAn effective deep eutectic solvent (DES) and Iron(III) chloride (FeCl3) combination pretreatment system was developed to improve the removal efficiency of lignin and hemicellulose from corn stover (CS) and enhance its saccharification. N-(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylenediamine (NE) was selected as the hydrogen-bond-donor for preparing ChCl-based DES (ChCl:NE), and a mixture of ChCl:NE (60 wt%) and FeCl3 (0.5 wt%) was utilized for combination pretreatment of CS at 110 ℃ for 50 min. FeCl3/ChCl:NE effectively removed lignin (87...

Effect of hyperchloremia on mortality of pediatric trauma patients: a retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: In pediatric patients with major trauma, hyperchloremia at 48-h postadmission was associated with 28-day mortality. This parameter might be a beneficial prognostic indicator.PMID:38477733 | PMC:PMC10926932 | DOI:10.1590/1516-3180.2022.0370.R2.010923 (Source: Sao Paulo Medical Journal)

Genotype –phenotype correlations in children with Gitelman syndrome
ConclusionsPatients with GS who had truncating variants in one or both alleles had more severe electrolyte abnormalities than those without truncating variants. Patients with GS who had monoallelicSLC12A3 variants on examination had almost the same phenotypes, response to treatment, and long-term prognosis as those with biallelic variants. Wearable and Recyclable Water ‐Toleration Sensor Derived from Lipoic Acid
This study presents a novel approach to enhancing the mechanics of poly(lipoic acid) and the fabrication of multifunctional sensors. By moisture-induced association of poly(lipoic acid) hydrophobic chains, the ionic conducting elastomers (ICEs) achieve swelling-strengthening and enhanced adhesion strength in underwater environments, thus making it possible for multi-environment applications (atmospheric and underwater environments). AbstractFlexible wearable sensors recently have made significant progress in human motion detection and health monitoring. However, most sensors still face challenges in terms of single detecti...

Ionic liquids as a shuttle of releasing and capturing hydrogen chloride: A new way to utilize waste HCl generated in organic reactions
Green Chem., 2024, Accepted Manuscript DOI: 10.1039/D4GC00580E, PaperFanzeng Kong, Minghao Li, Rongxian Bai, Yanlong Gu Herein, an ionic liquid, 1-[1-(ethoxycarbonyl)-2-oxopropyl]-3-methylimidazolium chloride (1,3-(CO)2IL-HCl), was synthesized and used as a donor of hydrogen chloride (HCl) to participate into an organic reaction. Interestingly, the simultaneously generated 1-[1-(ethoxycarbonyl)-2-oxopropyl]-3-methylimidazolium inner... Electroacupuncture alleviates intestinal inflammation via a distinct neuro-immune signal pathway in the treatment of postoperative ileus
CONCLUSIONS: EA at ST36 prevents intestinal inflammation and dysmotility through a neural circuit that requires vagal innervation but is independent of the spleen. Further findings revealed that the process involves enteric neurons mediating the vagal signal and requires the presence of α7nAChR. These findings suggest that utilizing EA at ST36 may represent a possible therapeutic approach for POI and other immune-related gastrointestinal diseases.PMID:38471276 | DOI:10.1016/j.biopha.2024.116387 (Source: Biomedicine and pharmacotherapy = Biomedecine and pharmacotherapie)
