Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1638: Emotional Distress, Cognitive Complaints, and Care Needs among Advanced Cancer Survivors Treated with Immune Checkpoint Blockade: A Mixed-Method Study
Conclusion: Our results indicate the existence of persistent psychological, physical, and cognitive issues, and support the need for routine screening for FCR. The identified triggers related to severe psychological distress can aid clinicians in timely referring the patient, thereby enhancing survivorship care. (Source: Cancers)

Follow-up Colonoscopy for Detection of Missed Colorectal Cancer after Diverticulitis
Colonoscopy is often recommended following an episode of diverticulitis to exclude missed colorectal cancer (CRC). This is a controversial recommendation based on limited evidence. We estimated the prevalence and odds of CRC and advanced colorectal neoplasia on colonoscopy in patients with diverticulitis compared to CRC screening. The Diagnosis of Cancer After Recent Weight Loss —Reply
In Reply We thank Mr Hung and colleagues for their interest in our recent article. In response to their first comment, it is important to note that body weights in this study were self-reported by participants approximately every 2 years and were not measured at clinic visits. Therefore, the frequency of clinic visits did not dictate the availability of weight data or the ability to assess recent weight change prior to a cancer diagnosis. However, we agree that outside this study, frequency of clinic visits could affect how promptly clinicians are informed of recent weight changes and when cancer-directed evaluations are i...

The Diagnosis of Cancer After Recent Weight Loss
To the Editor A recent study provided valuable insights into the complex relationship between weight loss and cancer risk. In addition to the limitations mentioned by the authors, we have some concerns about the study methods and the interpretation of the results. Modulating PCGF4 stability is an efficient metastasis-regulatory strategy utilized by distinct subtypes of Cancer-Associated Fibroblasts in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma
Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is highly malignant neoplasm and prone to metastasis. It is unclear if cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) affect the metastasis of ICC. Here, we have established ICC patient-derived CAF lines and related cancerous cell lines and analyzed the effects of CAFs on the tumor progressive properties of the ICC cancerous cells. Results demonstrated that CAFs can be classified into cancer-restraining or promoting categories (rCAFs or pCAFs) based on distinct tumorigenic effects. (Source: American Journal of Pathology)

Biparametric MRI in prostate cancer during active surveillance: is it safe?
AbstractActive surveillance (AS) is the preferred option for patients presenting with low-intermediate-risk prostate cancer. MRI now plays a crucial role for baseline assessment and ongoing monitoring of AS. The Prostate Cancer Radiological Estimation of Change in Sequential Evaluation (PRECISE) recommendations aid radiological assessment of progression; however, current guidelines do not advise on MRI protocols nor on frequency. Biparametric (bp) imaging without contrast administration offers advantages such as reduced costs and increased throughput, with similar outcomes to multiparametric (mp) MRI shown in the biopsy na...

ESR Essentials: screening for breast cancer - general recommendations by EUSOBI
AbstractBreast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women accounting for about 30% of all new cancer cases and the incidence is constantly increasing. Implementation of mammographic screening has contributed to a reduction in breast cancer mortality of at least 20% over the last 30 years. Screening programs usually include all women irrespective of their risk of developing breast cancer and with age being the only determining factor. This approach has some recognized limitations, including underdiagnosis, false positive cases, and overdiagnosis. Indeed, breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer-related dea...

[18F]fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography in combination with clinical data in predicting overall survival in non-small-cell lung cancer patients: A retrospective study
Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) has an established role in evaluating patients with lung cancer. The aim of this work was to assess the predictive capability of [18F]Fluorodeoxyglucose ([18F]FDG) PET/CT parameters on overall survival (OS) in lung cancer patients using an artificial neural network (ANN) in parallel with conventional statistical analysis. Extra-nuclear tert counteracts oxidative stress and promotes progression in papillary thyroid carcinoma
The reactivation of TERT is associated with poor outcome in papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). Extra-telomeric functions of TERT were reported, with a protective role against oxidative stress (OS). The aim of the present study was to explore the extra-nuclear TERT localization in PTC and its role in cancer progression.TERT nuclear export under OS were analyzed in K1 PTC cell line. We investigated the role of different TERT localizations using specific TERT constructs that limit its localization to the nucleus or to the mitochondria. (Source: Translational Research)
