Effectiveness of interventions to help mitigate the influence of social networks on anorexia and bulimia nervosa: a systematic review
CONCLUSIONS: Longer-lasting interventions can improve body satisfaction (one year) and depressive symptoms (six months), especially in women. Interventions should include attention to self-criticism, self-perception, self-esteem, body image, nutritional management, and media literacy skills.PMID:38626133 | DOI:10.23938/ASSN.1074 (Source: Anales del Sistema Sanitario de Navarra)

Prevalence of suicide attempt, suicide ideation and self-harm at diagnosis in adolescents with eating disorders
CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates that adolescents with EDs are at an increased risk for suicidality, highlighting the need for close screening, particularly in those with BN, AN-BP and AN with a higher BMI.Key pointsAdolescents with eating disorders have higher rates of suicidality than the general population.Bulimia nervosa had the highest risk for a suicide attempt, suicide ideation and self-harm at diagnosis.A higher body mass index (BMI) percentage was associated with an increased risk of suicidality in the anorexia nervosa group.PMID:38592409 | DOI:10.1080/13651501.2024.2337796 (Source: International Journal of Ps...

Eating Disorder Symptomatology Among Young Adult Cigarette and E-Cigarette Users
Discussion: Our findings suggest young adults with ED symptomatology were more likely to be users of e-cigarettes exclusively or dual users. It will be necessary to examine how these associations manifest using longitudinal and clinical populations in future research.PMID:38533542 | DOI:10.1080/10826084.2024.2330910 (Source: Substance Use and Misuse)

From early relational experiences to non-suicidal self-injury in anorexia and bulimia nervosa: a structural equation model unraveling the role of impairments in interoception
CONCLUSIONS: The proposed model provided a novel explanation of the occurrence of NSSIs in patients with AN and BN by accounting for the significance of interoception.LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level V-Cross-sectional observational study.PMID:38528258 | DOI:10.1007/s40519-024-01651-x (Source: Eating and weight disorders : EWD)
