Black bone disease of the skull incidentally discovered during endoscopic brow lifting
AbstractBlack bone disease presents as abnormal osseous hyperpigmentation following tetracycline antibiotic use. Several case studies have reported this incidental finding in the setting of orthopedic, cranial, and oromaxillofacial surgery. Herein, we describe a case of black bone disease discovered intraoperatively in a 63-year-old female with a 3-year history of tetracycline use during adolescence for acne treatment. During routine endoscopic brow-lifting surgery, patchy dark frontal bone discoloration was observed through all four incision sites. The integrity of the bone appeared normal, and the operative procedure, in...

Preoperative Classification System Used to Determine Release Performed during Endoscopic Brow Lift
Facial Plast Surg DOI: 10.1055/s-0041-1739267The techniques presented in article will allow the facial plastic specialist to use the anatomy of each individual patient as a guide for the surgical release of the brow performed during endoscopic brow lift. The author presents his 15 years of experience in which he developed this approach. Five different surgical releases of the brow will be demonstrated and discussed in terms of which patients would best benefit from which release. Adopting this approach has made the predictability of the authors brow lift results much better and therefore improved patient satisfaction. This...

Brow Lifting and Upper Facial Esthetics: Current Techniques and Considerations
AbstractPurpose of ReviewTo review contemporary considerations regarding upper facial esthetics and modern brow lifting techniques, including their selection criteria and efficacy.Recent FindingsMitek suture anchor and K-wire fixation were found to be viable endoscopic fixation techniques with various advantages over other methods. There has been a significant focus on developing minimally invasive lateral brow lifts. These often vary in degrees of lift and durability, with techniques such as browpexy/transblepharoplasty lifts having questionable efficacy, to subcutaneous temporal and combination lifts which appear to prod...

Sub-brow lift combined with orbicularis oculi folding for periorbital rejuvenation
The study aimed to evaluate a new method of periorbital rejuvenation in which periorbital muscle manipulation is utilised. Patients (n  = 82) who underwent eyebrow lifting surgery in Yichang Central People's Hospital were retrospectively included. All the patients had drooping eyebrows and lateral hooding of the upper eyelids combined with a flat or depressed outer-upper side of the eyebrow arch. Data were collected on the positi on of the eyebrow relative to the eye before and after surgery and the postoperative satisfaction of patients. Endoscopic Browlift in Patients With Receding Hairlines
J Craniofac Surg. 2021 Sep 28. doi: 10.1097/SCS.0000000000008156. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPatients with receding or high hairlines have traditionally been considered unfavorable candidates for endoscopic brow lift as this can further lengthen the hairline. We analyzed outcomes in patients that underwent a novel endoscopic brow lift technique with placement of incisions and anchoring Endotine Forehead Devices (CoApt Systems Inc, Palo Alto, CA, USA) directly at the natural forehead crease lines, in an effort to minimize elevation of the hairline, whereas providing well-hidden scars. We retrospectively reviewed all pati...

Current Trends in Facial Feminization Surgery: An Assessment of Safety and Style
Background: Facial feminization surgery (FFS) plays an instrumental role in the process of gender affirmation. These procedures are becoming increasingly appreciated for their ability to improve patient satisfaction and gender identity in a way that alleviates gender dysphoria and improves the quality of life. Despite the recent surge in popularity across the US, the current literature lacks evidence on the safety profile of combined facial feminization procedures. Our goal was to determine the safety profile of facial feminization procedures registered on a national surgical database. Methods: Patients with a p...

Forehead Lift for Asians
Facial Plast Surg Clin North Am. 2021 Nov;29(4):487-495. doi: 10.1016/j.fsc.2021.06.002.ABSTRACTAsians have anatomic and clinical characteristics to be considered before forehead lift. Because of the anatomic characteristics of Asians, for the better outcomes of blepharoplasty or augmentation rhinoplasty, forehead lift as a combined surgery must be considered beforehand. Forehead lift is frequently indicated in young Asian patients. Endoscopic browlift without visible scar is favored for patients, and it can be done in a modified multiplane fashion for better outcomes in patients with thick and redundant skin. There are ra...
