Forehead and brow rejuvenation: definition of a surgical algorithm
ConclusionsAccording to our experience, each technique is more applicable for certain patients. In this sense, our updated algorithm should be extremely helpful to young surgeons who are willing (and technically able) to handle forehead rejuvenation cases.Level of Evidence: Level V, therapeutic study. Minimally invasive brow lifting techniques
This article will review several minimally invasive techniques that can be used to address the needs of patients with mild-to-moderate brow ptosis. Recent findings:Recent publications describe and analyse efficacy of several variations of browpexy techniques. Summary:Browpexy techniques provide a minimally invasive way to provide stabilization and modest elevation of the lateral brow. They can enhance outcomes of upper eyelid surgery in patients with both functional and cosmetic brow ptosis, who desire to avoid the cost and morbidity of more formal brow lifting techniques. Outcome of a graduated minimally invasive facial reanimation in patients with facial paralysis
AbstractPeripheral paralysis of the facial nerve is the most frequent of all cranial nerve disorders. Despite advances in facial surgery, the functional and aesthetic reconstruction of a paralyzed face remains a challenge. Graduated minimally invasive facial reanimation is based on a modular principle. According to the patients ’ needs, precondition, and expectations, the following modules can be performed: temporalis muscle transposition and facelift, nasal valve suspension, endoscopic brow lift, and eyelid reconstruction. Applying a concept of a graduated minimally invasive facial reanimation may help minimize surgical...

Restoring facial symmetry through non-surgical cosmetic procedures after permanent facial paralxsis: a case report.
We report the case of a 66-year-old Caucasian female with permanent facial paralysis following middle ear surgery. The facial asymmetry was treated successfully with botulinum toxin A injection, hyaluronic acid dermal filler injection, and a thread-lift procedure. Quantitative efficacy of external and internal browpexy performed in conjunction with blepharoplasty.
Abstract Browpexy surgery is a minimally invasive surgical adjunct to upper blepharoplasty. The traditional internal (IB) approach is well documented, while the newer external (EB) variant has only recently been described. To date, there is little quantitative data to evaluate the efficacy of either procedure, and no data to compare results between the two. We determine the efficacy of, and compare surgical results between, internal and external browpexy surgery in lifting the central and lateral brow. A 3.5-year retrospective review of patients undergoing internal and external browpexy surgery to assess t...

Endoscopic Brow Elevation and Reshaping
The objective of this study is to describe a technique for endoscopic browlifting, consisting of minimal incisions, a biplanar dissection, and a different fixation technique designed for helping reshape the brow. Twenty-five patients who fulfilled the criteria for the study were analyzed for brow-position changes in height and shape. All the patients were treated by the senior authors using the technique described. This particular surgical technique has shown the advantage of being minimally invasive and effective. Careful analysis of the patient should be made to decide both the technique and the changes desired by the pa...

Review of Procedures to Feminise the Forehead
Facial feminisation surgery is generally utilised to soften the strong masculine features of face. This type of surgery is generally carried out on transsexual women and occasionally on women with prominent brows. Different procedures are utilised to sculpt the facial skeleton which include frontal bone reduction and anterior wall of frontal sinus setback. In addition, other techniques such as rhinoplasty, brow lift and hairline advancement compliment forehead feminisation. (Source: The British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery)

Who is Publishing in Facial Cosmetic Surgery? A Citation Analysis Across Specialties Over Five Decades
Conclusions Plastic surgeons, and plastic surgery journals, still remain a strong force in academic facial cosmetic surgery. However, it appears that the competition from non-plastic surgeons observed in clinical practice is being mirrored in the area of journal publications. We as a specialty need to continue to strive for high quality academic productivity. (Source: Aesthetic Surgery Journal)

Robotic-Assisted Upper Face Rejuvenation
Summary: Robotic-assisted technology has not been used in aesthetic surgery so far. The authors examined the feasibility and potential advantages of robotic-assisted technology in upper face rejuvenation surgery, as well as utility of the tools available in the market. Forehead lift was performed along with blepharoplasty in 4 patients. Robotic da Vinci Surgical System (Intuitive Surgical, Inc.) was used at the stage of dissection. The stereo endoscope 30 degrees, 12 mm and later 8.5 mm in diameter, and the set of tools, 8 mm and later 5 mm in diameter, were used. Overall results appeared to be essentially the sa...

Brow reduction, reshaping and suspension by a 20-degree beveled brow incision technique
A huge number of procedures for forehead and brow rejuvenation have been described. Nevertheless, the surgical approach of brow aesthetics in terms of correction of brow fullness and symmetry has not been systematically evaluated in the literature. We recently proposed a 20-degree beveled brow incision technique for direct brow lifting. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the 20-degree beveled brow incision technique for brow reduction, reshaping and correction of brow symmetry.
