Crystallizing galactocele: A rare case report and review of literature
Indian J Pathol Microbiol. 2024 Feb 19. doi: 10.4103/ijpm.ijpm_278_23. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCrystallizing galactocele is an uncommon condition that produces a viscous, chalky substance on fine needle aspiration cytology. (FNAC). Both the diagnosis and the management of this illness include the use of FNAC. Here, we discuss the case of a 25-year-old nursing woman who experienced left breast edema lump for two years. The upper outer quadrant of the leftt breast was involved by the hard, small, non-tender, and movable enlargement. The lesion's FNAC produced a thick, milky, and chalky substance. Numerous semi-transpar...

A Comprehensive Assessment of Radial Scars on Core Needle Biopsy in Patients with or without Breast Cancer: Upgrade Rate and Implications on Management
CONCLUSIONS: Our results show an extremely low upgrade rate to malignancy of RS, regardless if there is coexisting breast cancer elsewhere. Despite this, RS still prompted more extensive surgical excisions. The findings do not support excision of RS even among breast cancer patients when identified at a separate site from their cancer.PMID:38402106 | DOI:10.1016/j.clbc.2024.01.020 (Source: Clinical Breast Cancer)

Primary thyroid lymphoma: a case series
ConclusionPTL is a rare disease whose diagnosis should be considered in cases of rapidly growing goitres. Timely needle biopsy in suspected cases can avoid unnecessary surgery. Systemic treatment is required, depending on the stage of the tumour. (Source: Journal of Medical Case Reports)

Lateral Thinking: The Lateral Arm Approach for Stereotactic-Guided Breast Biopsies. What We ’ve Learned So Far
This article reviews the lateral arm approach, including patient selection, procedural technique, advantages, and disadvantages. Case examples utilizing the technique will also be discussed to illustrate our institutional experience (including procedural tips) and how the lateral arm approach can be integrated into breast imaging practice.SummaryThe lateral arm approach can expand the patient population that can undergo stereotactic-guided breast biopsy, which may obviate the need for surgical biopsy or short-term follow-up. The technique also allows for a creative approach to biopsy in challenging cases. Proficiency with ...

Spindle cell carcinoma of male breast: Report of a rare case
We report a rare case of spindle cell carcinoma, a histological subtype of metaplastic breast carcinoma, in a 40-year-old male who presented with an ulcero-proliferative lump in the right breast. Fine-needle aspiration cytology of the lesion showed poorly cohesive clusters of pleomorphic spindle-shaped cells, suggestive of malignant spindle cell tumor. Right mastectomy along with ipsilateral lymph node dissection was performed. Microscopic evaluation revealed a neoplasm comprising interlacing fascicles of oval to spindled pleomorphic cells with brisk mitosis and areas of necrosis. There was no nodal metastasis. Immunohisto...

A novel approach correlating pathologic complete response with digital pathology and radiomics in triple-negative breast cancer
Breast Cancer. 2024 Feb 13. doi: 10.1007/s12282-024-01544-y. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThis rapid communication highlights the correlations between digital pathology-whole slide imaging (WSI) and radiomics-magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients. The research collected 12 patients who had both core needle biopsy and MRI performed to evaluate pathologic complete response (pCR). The results showed that higher collagenous values in pathology data were correlated with more homogeneity, whereas higher tumor expression values in pathology data correlated with less homogeneit...

Comparison of gastric emptying time between breast-fed and formula milk-fed infants less than 6  months old, using gastric ultrasound-An observational study
CONCLUSION: In our series, the gastric emptying times in breast-fed and formula-fed infants less than 6 months old were similar. Our results support the fasting guidelines of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care 2022, that is, 3 h for breastfeeding and 4 h for formula milk feeding. In addition, this shows that the Schmitz's and Spencer's formulae used to calculate the gastric volume based on ultrasound measurement of the antral cross-sectional area are not comparable in infants less than 6 months.PMID:38323713 | DOI:10.1111/pan.14841 (Source: Paediatric Anaesthesia)
