Immune pathogenesis of idiopathic granulomatous mastitis: from etiology toward therapeutic approaches
Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis (IGM) is a noncancerous, chronic inflammatory disorder of breast with unknown causes, posing significant challenges to the quality of life due to its high refractoriness and local aggressiveness. The typical symptoms of this disease involve skin redness, a firm and tender breast mass and mastalgia; others may include swelling, fistula, abscess (often without fever), nipple retraction, and peau d’orange appearance. IGM often mimics breast abscesses or malignancies, particularly inflammatory breast cancer, and is characterized by absent standardized treatment options, inconsistent patient ...

Long-Term Outcomes of S-1 Combined With Low-Dose Docetaxel as Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy (N-1 Study, Phase II Trial) in Patients With Operable Breast Cancer
CONCLUSION: Our NAC regimen achieved favorable long-term outcomes and significantly improved OS in the pCR group. High TILs, NG 2-3, and some miRNAs may be predictors of pCR.PMID:38462397 | DOI:10.1016/j.clbc.2024.02.014 (Source: Clinical Breast Cancer)

Use of the lateral arm in tomosynthesis-guided SCOUT Reflector placement procedures
Preoperative localization procedures are important for guiding surgical excision of non-palpable findings in the breast. The SCOUT Reflector (Merit Medical, South Jordan UT, USA) is a non-wire-based localization device that has been incorporated into clinical use with great success. SCOUT Reflectors can be placed using several imaging modalities, including tomosynthesis. One drawback to SCOUT Reflector placement under tomosynthesis guidance is an inability to directly visualize the introducer needle tip, a factor that limits precision. (Source: Clinical Imaging)

Genomic Testing to Guide Local Therapy Decisions in Hormone Receptor-Positive Breast Cancer
AbstractPurpose of ReviewTo explore how genomic testing has changed local therapy decision-making, specifically surgical timing and opportunities for de-escalation of radiation therapy in hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative (HR  + HER2-) breast cancer.Recent FindingsRandomized trials have shown that genomic tests can be used to guide systemic therapy decision in HR  + HER2- breast cancer, with a significant proportion of patients not receiving benefit from chemotherapy. Emerging data suggests that the use of genomic testing on core needle biopsy can also predict response to preoperative therapy and guide choic...

Comparison of molecular analysis results determined by next-generation sequencing to immunohistochemical indicators and clinicopathological parameters in prostate adenocarcinomas
CONCLUSION: Regarding prognosis prediction and treatment, identifying the molecular changes in genes playing roles in prostate cancer with next-generation sequencing is very important.PMID:38427749 | DOI:10.4103/ijpm.ijpm_361_23 (Source: Indian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology)

Crystallizing galactocele: A rare case report and review of literature
Indian J Pathol Microbiol. 2024 Feb 19. doi: 10.4103/ijpm.ijpm_278_23. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCrystallizing galactocele is an uncommon condition that produces a viscous, chalky substance on fine needle aspiration cytology. (FNAC). Both the diagnosis and the management of this illness include the use of FNAC. Here, we discuss the case of a 25-year-old nursing woman who experienced left breast edema lump for two years. The upper outer quadrant of the leftt breast was involved by the hard, small, non-tender, and movable enlargement. The lesion's FNAC produced a thick, milky, and chalky substance. Numerous semi-transpar...
