Dune Medical raises $12m to expand MarginProbe footprint
Dune Medical Devices said today that it raised another $12 million it plans to use to expand the indications for the radiofrequency spectroscopy technology used in its MarginProbe cancer detection device.
Alpharetta, Ga.- and Caesarea, Israel-based Dune said the $12.3 million round was led by Canepa Healthcare, ATON Partners and the Kraft Group.

Potentially avoidable breast cancer surgeries cost patients and health-care system
(University of British Columbia Okanagan campus) A recent study by UBC medical researchers examined the health care costs associated with lumpectomy patients requiring reoperations. A lumpectomy, known as breast conservation surgery, is a procedure that removes tumors, aims to conserve breast tissue, and is followed by radiation therapy.The study concluded that with Canadian reoperation rates being more than double recommended targets, the additional cost to BC's health care system alone is $2 million per year. AHN study clears less invasive treatment for breast cancer patients with pacemakers
