Basic Concepts in Mentalizing-Based Therapy for Adolescents With Mood Dysregulation
Mentalizing-based therapy (MBT) was developed as a treatment for borderline personality disorder, and it also shows increasing empirical support as a transdiagnostic approach. In this Workshop, participants will learn about: 1) how mentalizing capacities develop in the context of attachment relationships; and 2) the impact of adolescents ’ emerging mentalizing capacities on their emotion regulation in relationships. Linehan ’s biosocial model applied to emotion dysregulation in autism: a narrative review of the literature and an illustrative case conceptualization
Emotion dysregulation (ED) is a transdiagnostic difficulty prevalent in autism spectrum condition (ASC). Importantly, recent research has suggested that ED is involved in self-harm and suicidality. Pre-existing models on the etiology of ED in ASC focus mainly on biological factors to ASC features, such as sensory sensitivities, poor flexibility, and sensitivity to change.
