The newly established Biomedical Engineering Scientific Interest Group (BMESIG) is launching a seminar series, to start on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. with a lecture by Dr. Gordana Vunjak-Novakovic, director of the Laboratory for Stem Cells and Tissue Engineering at Columbia University. NIH Director’s Wednesday Afternoon Lecture Series The treatment of injuries to bone that necessitate bone regeneration continues to be a major challenge for the orthopaedic surgeon. This burden is compounded by the constraints of supply and morbidity associated with autograft tissue, the gold standard of repair.
