Finding a specific subpopulation they can help, certain interventions or programs are being put into place. Rural Poverty Fifty Years After The People Left Behind

CDC ’ s Transforming Health Page
The Transforming Health: Patient-Centered HIV Prevention and Care website is a new resource from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The focus of this site is to aid in the reduction of new HIV infections and improve the health of transgender individuals living with HIV. The site contains information for clinicians, care teams and other healthcare providers as well as resources for people who are transgender. One in 5 children in the United States are obese. “ Your Best Shot ”
The National Vaccine Program Office (NVPO) and the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) have collaborated to develop the “Your Best Shot” vaccine video series. These videos highlight the importance of vaccines across the lifespan. Each video focuses on a particular disease such as whooping cough, shingles, and pneumococcal disease. Viewing these videos helps people understand why they need to get vaccinated. Never Leave a Child Alone in a Car
Hot days are still here and heatstroke remains a risk for children in cars. Automakers, safety advocates and moms have taken to the airwaves and online with an educational campaign aimed at saving children’s lives. Sadly, an average of 37 young lives are lost each year from heatstroke due to being unattended in cars. Neighborhood Navigator to address Social Determinants of Health
The EveryONE project is an initiative from the American Academy of Family Physicians focused on helping primary care physicians learn about and address the social determinants of health (SDOH). The Neighborhood Navigator is an output of this project. The navigator allows a user to search for services available in their zip code that will help them with issues such as hunger, paying for medical care and job training. National Breastfeeding Month
August is National Breastfeeding Month. According to the Office on Women’s Health, breastfed babies have lower risks during their childhood of obesity, ear infections, asthma and other conditions. Breast milk is rich in nutrients and easier for babies to digest than formula. Breastfeeding can help a mother’s health and healing following childbirth and leads to a lower risk of type 2 diabetes, certain types of breast cancer and ovarian cancer.
