Outcome of small versus big capacity Hautmann neobladder reconstruction: A prospective randomized study - a 5-year follow up
CONCLUSION: Minimizing the length of the ileal segment needed for Hautmann neobladder reconstruction is feasible and provides better long-term results than larger-volume neobladders.PMID:37661899 | DOI:10.3233/THC-230339 (Source: Technology and Health Care)

A 10- to 20-year follow-up after tension-free vaginal tape for stress urinary incontinence
ConclusionThe efficacy of TVT is demonstrated up to 20 years. The presence of bothersome OAB symptoms in the population may be an indicator of multimorbidity. (Source: International Urogynecology Journal)

Outcomes of early endoscopic realignment of post-traumatic posterior urethral ruptures
CONCLUSION: Early endoscopic realignment allows some patients to avoid a heavier surgical treatment, and doesn't compromise the realization of a later urethroplasty.PMID:37634959 | DOI:10.1016/j.purol.2023.08.020 (Source: Progres en Urologie)

Proposal to decrease incidence, morbidity, and associated healthcare costs regarding difficult and traumatic urethral catheterization - a protocol for DMC hospitals: A pilot study
CONCLUSION: Patient morbidity and healthcare costs regarding traumatic and difficult catheterization is significant. Utility of protocols and education could potentially reduce these burdens and enhance patient care.PMID:37633291 (Source: Canadian Journal of Urology)

Comparison of Serum Gamma Glutamyl Transferase Levels between Prostate Cancer Patients and Their Healthy Peers
CONCLUSION: Serum GGT levels might assist in diagnosis of PCa. However, diagnostic power is weak due to low specificity. There is a need for studies investigating the efficacy of GGT levels for prediction of PCa diagnosis and assessing other parameters alongside GGT.PMID:37593509 | PMC:PMC10430399 | DOI:10.18502/ijph.v52i7.13251 (Source: Cancer Control)

Routine Use of Foley Catheters During Endovascular Aortic Repair Is Not Necessary
Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) has proven to demonstrate as an effective, less invasive alternative to open aortic aneurysm repair with decreased 30-day mortality. Urinary catheters were routinely placed in our institution, but there has been a shift to selective placement as percutaneous EVARs became more routine. Given the increased risk of graft infection with increased urethral catheterization and development of urinary tract infection (UTI). The goal of this study was to evaluate outcomes of elective infrarenal EVAR procedures with and without UC and compare postoperative adverse urinary events. (Source: Journal of Vascular Surgery)

Safe duration of silicon catheter replacement in urological patients
CONCLUSIONS: In this study, the duration of urinary catheterisation using silicone Foley's catheters did not influence the complication and symptom rates; hence silicon catheters can be placed in situ for up to 8 weeks before replacement instead of the traditional three-weekly change.FUNDING: Enterprise Computing Limited.PMID:37576373 | PMC:PMC10416272 | DOI:10.4314/gmj.v57i1.10 (Source: Ghana Medical Journal)
