CT-321 Uncommon Viral Infections in Patients Treated With CAR-T Cell Therapy: Concurrent Adenovirus and BK Virus Infection in a Mantle Cell Lymphoma Patient Within 30 Days After Receiving Brexucabtagene Autoleucel
CONCLUSIONS: Immunosuppression in patients receiving CAR-T cell therapy is multifactorial. CRS and ICANS are common acute toxicities that frequently require treatment with immunosuppressive agents. Prolonged use of corticosteroids has been identified as a predictor of infection after CAR-T cell therapy. Clinical trials addressing appropriate infection prophylaxis and treatment in this population are needed.PMID:36164215 | DOI:10.1016/S2152-2650(22)01663-9 (Source: Adv Data)

Correlation between CPY3A5 gene polymorphism and BK virus infection in kidney transplant recipients
CONCLUSION: After kidney transplantation, CYP3A5 gene polymorphism of recipients present a certain relationship with the occurrence of BKV infection, which may be of value for the prediction and prevention of BKV infection.PMID:36100194 | DOI:10.1016/j.trim.2022.101709 (Source: Transplant Immunology)

Development of a Bak gene based standard curve for absolute quantification of BK virus in real time quantitative PCR assay and noninvasive diagnosis of BK virus nephropathy in kidney allograft recipients
CONCLUSIONS: Bak standard curve for absolute quantification of BKV VP1 mRNA copy number in the RT-qPCR assay demonstrated high efficiency, short and long-term precision and analytical specificity. BKVN was diagnosed with high accuracy. Our new findings, viewed in the light of our earlier demonstration that absolute quantification of a panel of mRNAs encoding immunoregulatory proteins is feasible with the Bak amplicon-based RT-qPCR assays, suggest that the Bak standard curve could serve as a universal calibrator for absolute quantification of transcripts in RT-qPCR assays and help reduce the workload, costs and eliminate co...

Identifying < em > RBBP7 < /em > as a Promising Diagnostic Biomarker for BK Virus-Associated Nephropathy
In conclusion, we identified and verified RBBP7 as a molecular biomarker for BKVN diagnosis, which demonstrated great distinguishing ability with allograft rejection and would support clinical decision-making.PMID:35958876 | PMC:PMC9357817 | DOI:10.1155/2022/6934744 (Source: Journal of Immunology Research)

Live enteroviruses, but not other viruses, detected in human pancreas at the onset of type 1 diabetes in the DiViD study
Conclusions/interpretationSensitive assays confirm that the pancreases of all DiViD cases contain EVs but no other viruses. Analogous EV strains have been found in pancreases of two of 11 individuals without diabetes. The detected EV strains can be passaged in series from one cell culture to another in the form of poorly replicating live viruses encoding antigenic proteins recognised by multiple EV-specific antibodies. Thus, the early phase of type 1 diabetes is associated with a low-grade infection by EVs, but not by other viral agents.Graphical abstract (Source: Diabetologia)
