Stanford v Columbia
Stanford Pros Weather, Chill students Small class TAing and tuition reduction opportunities Research opportunities/connection to the undergrad campus Closer to family Cons Not trying to do Biotech, MBA, fifth year if I can help it and want to focus on strong clinical training Spent 4+ years there and feel sort of over it (won't ever get over good weather and nice campus, but just overall) Second look didn't make me that excited (not basing my... Harvard Vs. Michigan Vs. WashU Vs. Cleveland Clinic LCM WL
HMS (~120k debt) Pros Its HMS, universal reach with the name Boston seems good for biotech, industry innovation (im interested in exploring this side of things as a side thing for research, NOT as primary career) Excellent specialty advising and insane match list (would help as I am interested in something competitive) PF clinical and preclin, and no Honors (no AOA? can someone confirm) Excellent research resources Cons Boston is cold (but I am from a... Tulane vs Einstein
Einstein Pros Really interesting global health opportunities that jive with my background and previous experiences, provide funding and support to do these types of programs In NYC (kind of), think I would learn so much on clinical rotations in the bronx, the faculty are heavily invested in their community (feel like this is also true with tulane tho) Commutable to Manhattan where I have friends living, maybe could escape the concrete jungle every once in a while to get to... Is dentistry future-proof?
Hi folks I'm in a position where I can make career recommendations for young people. I'm trying to be very forward looking. I'm aware that due to advances in tech, biotech, AI etc. that the job market in 25 years could be very different from what we have now. It would seem that a procedure-based profession is safer from redundancy than something that can be delegated to sensors and an algorithm. Is it therefore safe to say, that dentistry, more so than even family medicine, is better... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Help with non-trad admissions process.
Hi all, I am new to this process and was asking for some advice. I thank you all in advance. Basically I am asking for some advice on how to achieve my goal to be admitted into a US dental school as soon as I can. I would be a non-trad in that I am in my mid twenties with 30 months of biotech work experience. While in highschool I achieved straight A’s, in college the lack of structure and my lack of drive resulted in me finishing just above a 2.9 gpa with a biochemistry major and a... Physician scientists in industry
I'm at a mid-low tier MD/PhD program, on track for several 1st authors, won a grant from a foreign government. My work is 100% dry lab, computational/AI stuff, so not exactly high start up costs. I am increasingly unsure about pursuing a life in academia. The tedium of grant writing and the limited impact that academic research has is making me rethink things. I know people in biotech and arguably they're doing cutting edge work with higher upside. Ultimately, I want my work to be impactful... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
