From Urology to Plastics
Hai Ther’, I am a U.S. citizen (hence, no need for a visa) who was born and raised in Belgium. There, I attended medical school, but I have yet to begin my residency. I recently graduated and am currently doing a multi-year long research postdoc at a top-10 university on the East Coast in the US, in urology. I am fully aware that securing a spot in a urology residency program is no easy task. However, I am fortunate to have 'big name' U.S. urology advisors backing me who are willing to... Living Abroad During Gap Year?
Hello! I am a 4th year undergrad studying biomedical engineering at a well-ranked public university. I have been planning on applying to med school in the next cycle (entering med school Fall 2024), but I've been hearing recently that it's not a good idea to live abroad during the application year. For context, I am hoping to receive a Fulbright grant to study in Belgium next year, so getting time off to return to the US for interviews hopefully won't be too bad as many classes at the... Marketing my new cash practice that opens in a few weeks
My new cash practice opens in a few weeks. Still trying to finalize the rates likely $250/60 min initial and $120/30 or $100/20 min follow up. Marketing steps I’ve done so far - Psychology today profile - Paid someone do to some SEO - article written about the business in a local publication that reaches about 25,000 households, done for free - bought 100 of these nice Belgian chocolate cookie tins from Costco and I am dropping them off in person along with promotional materials to... Non-US IMG basic advice
Hello everyone, I'm a first-year student at a medical school in Belgium. Before this, I did my bachelor's and master's in the US and came back to Europe to work for a few years before enrolling in medical school. I'm now 28. I loved my time in the US and dream of doing my residency in CA (😍), NY, MA or WA. It's a bit too early to say which field I'll want to go into, perhaps IM, Peds or General Surgery. What should I be doing now to have the best chances of matching? My current plan is to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Herd Immunity and Belgium
I've been looking at raw Corona numbers for the past while as I've been completely away from all other forms of media. The curves in most US states and European countries look similar, which suggests that the differing mitigation approaches likely have no effect on the curve. The one standout is Belgium. They got blasted heavily in the first wave last Spring and have the highest deaths/million in the world at 1337. Unlike the rest of Europe, their curve has been declining rapidly...
