Cognitive behavioural therapy for anxiety in children and young people
The Cochrane Common Mental Disorders Group has produced many reviews of the effects on interventions for conditions such as anxiety and depression. They added to these in November 2020 with a substantially revised version of their review of the use of cognitive behavioural therapy for children and adolescents. Cognitive-behavioural therapy for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adults
The Cochrane Developmental, Psychosocial and Learning Problems Group covers a wide range of topics relevant to the mental health of both adults and children in the more than 140 Cochrane Reviews it has produced to date. In March 2018, it added to these with a new review of cognitive-behavioural interventions for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in adults. Post traumatic stress syndrome
David Forbes discusses the assessment and management of post traumatic stress syndrome (in particular the role of trauma focussed psychological therapy). GPs can assist patients who have experienced trauma within the past 2 weeks by providing psychological first aid, and monitoring and assessment for the development of acute stress disorder and symptoms of PTSD. Trauma focused psychological treatment is the first line of treatment for PTSD, and in this interview David Forbes outlines what is involved in this specialised form of cognitive behavioural therapy.
