Antibiotics and antibiotic-associated diarrhea: a real-world disproportionality study of the FDA adverse event reporting system from 2004 to 2022
CONCLUSIONS: There is a significant correlation between almost all antibiotics and AAD, particularly lincomycins and β-lactam antibiotics, as well as a different correlation within the same class. These findings offer valuable evidence for selecting antibiotics appropriately.PMID:38049920 | PMC:PMC10694877 | DOI:10.1186/s40360-023-00710-w (Source: BMC Pharmacology and Toxicology)

Augmentin loaded functionalized halloysite nanotubes: A sustainable emerging nanocarriers for biomedical applications
Environ Res. 2023 Dec 1:117811. doi: 10.1016/j.envres.2023.117811. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTClay minerals such as Halloysite nanotubes (HNTs), abundantly available green nanomaterial, exhibit a significant advantage in biomedical applications such as drug delivery, antibacterial and antimicrobials, tissue engineering or regeneration, etc. Because of the mesoporous structure and high absorbability, HNTs exhibit great potential as a nanocarrier in drug delivery applications. The sulfuric acid treatment enhances the surface area of the HNTs and thereby improves their drug-loading capacity by enlarging their lumen space/i...

Trends in penicillin dispensing during an acute rheumatic fever prevention programme
CONCLUSION: During the RFPP an increase in amoxicillin dispensing was seen in regions participating in the programme and regions outside of the programme, indicating the programmatic approach led to improved adherence to recommended first-line antibiotics.PMID:38033243 (Source: New Zealand Medical Journal)
