Electrocardiographic Characteristics in 438 Neonates with Atrial Septal Defects
In conclusion, ASDs are associated with ECG changes from the neonatal phase. TheP-wave duration and PR interval are longer in neonates with ASDs when compared to controls as early as the first week after birth, indicating that these changes are not purely secondary, but that neonates with an ASD have altered cardiac electrical activity.ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier NCT02753348 (April 27, 2016) (Source: Pediatric Cardiology)

HBNET: A blended ensemble model for the detection of cardiovascular anomalies using phonocardiogram
CONCLUSION: The results indicate that the HbNet model exhibits a high level of efficacy in the early detection of cardiac disorders. Results also imply that HbNet has the potential to serve as a valuable tool for the development of decision-support systems that aid medical practitioners in confirming their diagnoses. This method makes it easier for medical professionals to diagnose and initiate prompt treatment while performing preliminary auscultation and reduces unnecessary echocardiograms.PMID:38393859 | DOI:10.3233/THC-231290 (Source: Technology and Health Care)

Dual drainage in “partial” anomalous pulmonary venous connection
A 27-year-old woman with dyspnea on exertion was evaluated with transthoracic echocardiography which showed an ostium secundum atrial septal defect and a partially anomalous pulmonary venous connection (PAPVC) with right-inferior pulmonary vein draining into the coronary sinus. A cardiac CT angiography was performed for further anatomic delineation which revealed an unusual dual drainage pattern of PAPVC. The right inferior pulmonary vein and left inferior pulmonary vein were seen draining into the coronary sinus, while the left superior pulmonary vein was seen draining into the left brachiocephalic vein (Fig.  1).
