SummaryAn early-adolescent girl presented with incoordination, headache, vomiting and dysphonia. MRI brain demonstrated diffuse increased T2 and FLAIR signal in bilateral thalami, consistent with anaplastic astrocytomas. A stereotactic burr-hole biopsy provided frozen tissues sections demonstrating anIDH-1 wildtype astrocytoma (anaplastic grade III according to prior WHO classification 2016-21). Investigating chromosomal instability in long-term survivors with glioblastoma and grade 4 astrocytoma
ConclusionsOur data suggest that CIN is pervasive in high grade gliomas, however this is unlikely to be a major contributor to the phenomenon of long-term survivorship in GBM. Improved prognostic stratification of patients with isocitrate dehydrogenase-mutant astrocytoma
In conclusion, CNS WHO grade, global DNA methylation status, andCDKN2A homozygous deletion are prognostic in patients with IDH-mutant astrocytoma.
