New thoracic MBB anatomy
Based on new locations of articular branches from this dissection by Maus, looks like the articular branches are not always coming off the medial branches, or if they are, are very close to DRG. Doesn't seem like targeting the MB at the sling would do much--would only hit lateral branch. TP targeting seems more medial than previous models. Pedicle shadow technique seems like it would hit MB but miss articular branches too. Thoughts? ... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Taking Anatomy and Physiology through an Anthropology Department
I'm strongly considering taking upper level Bio courses at a 4 year university. One course I wish to take is Human Anatomy and Physiology, preferably at a Pre-Med/Bio Major level as opposed to a course tailored to nursing students. I noticed at UAlbany that they do not offer their Anatomy and Physiology course through their Bio Department. Rather, it is offered through the Anthropology department. I'm just a bit thrown off because I have never heard of a school offering Human Anatomy and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I think I might be kicked out of a course in my SMP.. are my chances over?
I’m on my second and last semester of my SMP. I’m doing pretty well in the program and currently have a 3.8 GPA. I also have three A’s and 2 B’s. Today I was studying for an anatomy exam and I was so stressed about it that I forgot to attend one of our mandatory class sessions. I got an email from the professor stating that I needed to excused absence from the program director. I have read the syllabus up and down so many time and all it says is that certain sessions are mandatory, and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

IGRT orders by disease site
Hi! I'm working to update some of the policies in my department, and we'd like to standardize most of our IGRT by disease site. It would mainly be a starting point, and physicians can alter those based on preferences, individual patient anatomy, etc. Do any of you like a list of your typical IGRT orders (MV, kV, CBCT, etc and frequency) broken down by disease site? There's a lot of variability but appreciate your input (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Atsu-soma vs uiwsom
Hi Please help me decide! I’m currently leaning towards ATSU-Soma since it is more established a closer. But I’ve heard mixed things from both schools ATSU-SOMA ($67,000) Pros -Closer to home -More established with a high match rate -really good for family practice (I’m hoping to go into peds) -holo lens anatomy Cons -switching to 2-2 from 1-3 (transition period) so the curriculum can be considered unstable and rotation clinics can be sparse -rotation clinics are all over the country and... Should I take a second gap year? 4.0/525 with strong clinical, but no research/leadership.
Context: I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life during college, and I basically wasted those 4 years. I never had to take anatomy, but I took it for fun my senior year, and halfway through my last semester of college something clicked and I realized that I want to be a doctor. I've spent the last year working as a medical assistant and getting volunteering hours. My stats will get me yield protected at a lot of schools, but my lack of leadership and research will keep me from getting... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What should I improve in?
Hi all, I'm looking to reapply for the third time this summer. I'm looking to improve my application in all aspects and was wondering whether I should take some online classes at my local community college to boost my GPA (sGPA to at least 3.70; does this make a difference or am I delusional thinking it looks better?). I already have all my pre-requisites, I was considering taking Anatomy and Medical Terminology which are beneficial for medical school. Or is there some other aspect I should... Rectal Filling During Prostate RT
Hi all, Silly question, wanted to get your thoughts. For standard frac or hypofrac prostate RT, if I’m doing daily CBCT and fiducials, why does rectal filling matter at all? I understand the dogma - a large rectum pushes the prostate anteriorly and so you could miss anteriorly and include more rectum if aligning to bony anatomy on daily kv imaging. But I feel this was more an issue in the non CBCT era. Now, if you can just align to the prostate itself, shouldn’t daily changes in rectal... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Anyone have any advice for materials to read or what to do to prepare for intern year? My head and neck anatomy is pretty bad if I’m being perfectly honest so i was looking for some materials to study Thanks ! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Help with School Choice
Thankful to receive multiple acceptances this cycle. For background, I have always done very well academically in all subjects except anatomy. I am not much of a visual learner and I struggle with the three dimensionality of anatomy. In undergrad I struggled heavily with cadaver lab practicals and am worried this could be an issue for me in med school. I have settled on a top 3 for my school choices and need help deciding with this in mind. School A: I currently do an SMP at this school and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

RN to MD transition process [2 year old RN transition to Medschool], please help
Thanks all, I am a 25-year-old Registered Nurse who completed nursing school two years ago. Although I have no premedical background beyond the fundamentals of biology and anatomy for nursing school, I am now interested in pursuing more education (med school). I am applying for Canadian Schools and there is a few that have a criterion to accepts students without Premed prerequisites. I'm at a loss on how to begin and am stuck. Since the university I'm applying to has a September 2024... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
