Custom MCAT Study Plan
Hi everyone! Not sure if this kind of post is allowed here, so please excuse the misstep if not. I've been MCAT tutoring for a few years, and always help my students make a spreadsheet schedule of exactly what they should be completing each day based on their strengths/weaknesses, timing, and resources available. As someone with ADHD, I've found that having a thorough outline is very helpful for keeping focused, and eliminating some of the stress that comes from general *I could always be... BPD and ADHD comorbidity
There is a subset of BPD patients that I see that checks all the boxes for ADHD criteria. Now, I know these are treacherous waters, so I always try to check and double-check these cases: can the impulsivity be associated with emotional triggers and chronic feelings of emptiness, or it has a strong motor and learning component as well? Did these symptoms began before 12y.o? Do other family members give similar informations as well? Do the patients report significant sympotms from standarized... Best ways to get referrals from y'all?
I'm a psychiatrist and potentially starting a private practice from 0. Would take major insurances, some Medicaid, no Medicare. Open to seeing pretty much anything other than ASPD/long criminal histories, but would like to keep substance use disorders to a minimum. Happy to see eating disorders, functional problems, ADHD, autism evals, in addition to the basic depression and anxiety. Do I just send letters to your offices? Should I stop by and talk to your receptionist and give out... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ADHD - Specialities where it is possible to survive and thrive (with ADHD)
Are there any specialities where inattentive-ADHD people can survive (and thrive) ? Asking for a extended family member. Their kid is interested in becoming a doctor. But she has also been diagnosed with inattentive ADHD. Now in pre-med track at college. I was asked to provide some suggestions for her career. PS - Not asking about hyperactive ADHD. That is a whole other type. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

WAMC/school list cGPA 3.59/523 ORM
Hi everyone. I am a senior and going to take a gap (application) year. My main concern is my lower GPA not matching with my MCAT score. I had a rough start to college (some medical problems + an ADHD diagnosis, which I don't plan on sharing in my application) and show a strong upward trend with my GPA (3.83 in my last semester, taking two biology and three chem courses), but I'm finding it difficult to decide which schools are appropriate for me to apply to. Any advice is very appreciated... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ADHD (again)
I've been active in the Navy's Scholarship program for a semester now, and am considering being evaluated for ADHD. A tale as old as time I guess. I've searched this forum and found good information, that states that once you are in the program, you probably won't be kicked out. However, I haven't found official information around the topic. I'm looking for something more concrete than "DOswag/NavyFP" said it's okay and I'm not sure where to look for that. Thanks all, and sorry to beat a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Influx of adult ADHD referrals in outpatient
Since starting my private practice a few months ago, it seems like over half of new patients are coming with complaints of ADHD symptoms. It's usually people who've never had a diagnosis of it and want treatment. Occasionally it's people on reasonable current regiments, but there have also been some heroic doses of adderall prescribed as well by previous psychiatrists/pcps. Have you all noticed an uptick in these referrals? This wasn't an issue for me in my residency or my previous ACT job... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

College Psychiatry
What are some pluses and minuses of a gig being a psychiatrist for a college campus? Other than low pay likely. Minuses off the top of my head (and I have a bias against the outpatient world): 1. Likely a fair amount of reading up on adhd and psychostimulant seeking (this is actually in line with my exposure to this cohort w/in a more general adult population and outpatient settings). 2. Higher risk age group for suicide (Source: Student Doctor Network)
