Applied this cycle but not doing well in final year of classes... what to do?
I am in my last year of undergrad and applied this year to 26 MD programs... offered 2 interview so far but I am taking Orgo 1 and 2 this year (bad mistake)... I might end up with a D/F in Orgo 1 because I missed an exam by accident (my mistake), but I am optimistic I can do well in the spring and with orgo 2. If I can concurrently enroll in both classes, and I am accepted to a program, does it usually stand that I can gain admission and matriculate in 2023 if I graduate on time? I would... treading into unknown waters - patient's parent was in traumatic accident and dad wants me to check in with kiddo.
So I did an eval on a kiddo who had a very classic aspergers vibe (like referred to a type of bugs as "phasmids" on a certain test). His parent was shot while waiting for him at a service session. She seems to be out of the woods and is having a miraculous recovery, but is still in the hosp. Father reached out to me to see if I could meet with him to just see how he doing. Of course, I said "yes." I did tell dad this kind of stuff is new to me, so we will be figuring out together and I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

4 schools over 20 years
Hi all, first time posting on here, I'll try and make a long story short. Psych tech nursing school at age 18 - 55 gpa hours at 3.66 total. Fast forward five to ten years and attended another college for classes just kind of screwing around (bored and wanted to learn), then in the middle of those years of classes whenever life threw me a curve ball (major accident, pregnancies, sick kids, whatever came up) I would just drop classes or skip finals etc, thinking that it was just for my... Is this rotation evaluation comment a big deal?
Hey all, Just finished my very first rotation, Psych, a few weeks ago at a local clinic. It was 5 weeks long and I worked with 6 different attendants including the one who was the lead. I worked hard and thought I did really well. The only thing is that one day there was a large accident on the freeway and it took me 50 minutes instead of 20 minutes to the rotation. Thus I was 15 minutes late. Unfortunately it was one of the days I was working with the lead attending. I explained my... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

26-year-old surgery fellow killed in tragic accident
Apr. 7—A former WVU Medicine surgery resident who was reported missing last week after going hiking along the Potato River in Gurney, Wis., was found dead over the weekend. Kelsey A. Musgrove, M.D., 26, graduated from the General Surgery Residency program at WVU just last summer and was serving as a cardiothoracic surgery fellow at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health... Med Student Deaths
I am wondering how many of you have experienced a classmate of yours dying (either in your graduating class or a different one)? Did your school communicate with you how that classmate died (suicide, accident, illness, etc.) How many of you have experienced a classmate committing suicide? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advice Needed: The school put me at a site where the town has shootings and crime on the daily
Hi guys hope everyone enjoyed the holiday: I just started my psychiatry rotation on Tuesday and luckily have not had to go in since. The site, despite me reaching out to them numerous times, did not give me their address till Monday morning, so I only knew exactly where it was 24 hours before the start of it. My commute one way has ended up being 2 hours (clear weather, no traffic accidents), so I have already reached out to the school about how that is just not realistic multiple days a... Accident cases
I don’t want anything to do with these accident cases but these patients will sometimes seek me out for “treatments”. I don’t want to deal with the lawyers etc, patients say “they will just pay cash” or lie and say “they aren’t suing anyone”. How do you avoid these cases from entering the clinic or getting involved at all? This isn’t about why I don’t want to be involved so please don’t tell me the moneys good etc. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Accidentally skipped a snapshot question
I double clicked by accident submit after the read and reflect for the first question and did not give an answer. My keyboard doesn't work so well so when I clicked to leave the reflection I had to press multiple times and caused me to skip the recording of actual question. What do I do? Will this make or break my application. I cannot retake the exam and I feel like an absolute idiot. I already know I am stupid please don't remind me again in the comments. Just need some advice. Looking for a reality check
I’m a 40yr old SLP who is contemplating med school. My husband passed away a year and a half ago unexpectedly leaving me as solo mom to two kids (5 and 1yrs). Is this a realistic goal? I know I’ve got the drive and ability. I scored 160s+ on the GREs. My 5yr old was born during my grad program, and the following year I had a crazy freak car accident that left me in the hospital for 10days. I still managed to pull off a solid gpa. And then of course this past year, I pulled myself back from... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

what to do if there is unexpected event during your audition rotation?
Good evening guys, need some advice on how to deal with accidents during your away/audition rotation. So today is my first day in the OR and the first case starts at 7. I woke up early, got everything ready and left 1 hour in advance. Guess what, my apartment's elevators are broken... All of them because they are controlled by this single control panel where you press which floor to go to. I am on the 46th floor. One of the old tall apartments built in the 80s. Tried calling emergency... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What/How to pre-study before med school?
Hello everyone, First off, I know what you're thinking: "not this again." But at the risk of sounding arrogant, I feel as though I'm a special case. Shortly after graduating, I was involved in an accident that physicians confirmed led to neurological damage. I'm trying to be a little vague because I've PMed some people specifics before and alluded to it on my app, but essentially my cognition is not what it used to be. My reasoning ability has been mostly unaffected, thankfully. I can... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
