Can/will I get my medical school acceptance rescinded because I told a test prep academic advisor to "go f*** yourself"?
There is a test prep company that removed me from their course because I complained about their policy. They removed me from their course without my consent or me asking to be removed. I later switched courses and was later accepted into a medical school. An academic advisor called me from this first company to ask me questions and I told him where I got accepted (I shouldn't have), and later in the conversation I told him to "go f*** yourself" (I really shouldn't have) because I'm very... Recruiting Candidates
Where do experienced physicians and new docs go these days to look for jobs? When I graduated over a decade ago, it was all the ASTRO jobs board. Our group is located in a very favorable geographical location and is a private group, but we post on the ASTRO job board and get a handful of graduates at best. I understand the job market is competitive now, but I'm surprised by the few number of applicants especially compared to years past. Are most grads desiring academic positions? Are we... Post bacc or dental school?
I got accepted into a formal post bacc program that starts spring 2024 and I need to accept/deny my offer bey Dec. 22. I applied as an academic enhancer because my undergraduate sGPA is a 2.88 and cGPA is a 3.04. I personally don't think my GPA is competitive enough for even a strong DAT score to compensate, but the dentist I shadow has told me he thinks I should just apply to dental school anyways. Now I'm not sure what to do because if I deny my post bacc offer, what if I don't get into... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Thoughts on EMS Fellowship/Medical Direction?
Hello all, Just posting out of curiosity since I haven't seen much discussion about this subsection of EM. What are some of your thoughts on going down the EMS/Medical Director route? Is it something you see as only viable at academic centers? Is focusing on that even viable based on the job market trends or do you think it will be just an additional set of responsibilities with little extra benefit? Your insight is appreciated by this pre-med applicant (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Practicing as board eligible
Need some serious guidance here. devastated and lost. I've just found out I failed boards for a second time now for neurology and am at an impasse on what to do. Here are some details: Presently I'm early in attending hood in an extraordinarily noncompetitive subspecialty, even by neuro standards. and every job posting I come across is seeking BE or BC; I have yet to come across any postings requiring board certification. And these postings are at major academic centers too. Unfortunately... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Subspecialty+Palliative Care in academic setting
Hi everyone, Just wondering if there's anyone who's board certified/eligible in both HPM and a subspecialty of some sort (or primary care/hospitalist) who's able to practice both in an academic setting? (i.e. someone who's boarded in Medical Oncology/Hematology/Nephrology/PCCM etc. and HPM who does a mix of both, or someone who does a week of hospitalist + 1 week of HPM, rinse and repeat.) Basic question: can a person practice both another specialty/their original primary specialty and HPM... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Job prospects for low tier fellowship
Hi everyone, I matched hematology/oncology at a hybrid community-academic program that is not well known and far away from my desired region (but has a good reputation in my region). My ultimate goal is to practice in California due to family reasons. My question is: will I be able to make it back to Califronia? Just scrolling the names of attendings in major californian heme/onc private practices I see alot of fancy names (e.g. Yale, DFCI, UCSF) and the like. I am worried with low name... The future of oncology, impacted by AI?
I'm PGY-3 and matched to mid academic hematology/oncology fellowship and am excited about that. just curious what are your thoughts on AI's impact on the field of oncology. from my naive experience so far, i think AI can generate good or better treatment plan for most types of malignancy. if that is true, i would imagine the demand and salary for oncologists would go down? Post-Residency “Privademic” Practice Options... Non-Compete Problem?
I want to maintain positive aspects of private practice and academia in my career and want to know if this would be feasible. I have the opportunity to invest in a group of primary care clinics and SNFs (as an owner not practitioner, would not be seeing patients), but would also like to maintain a hospitalist/clinical professor position at my home academic institution. The flexible hospitalist schedule would allow me time to manage the business while maintaining the academic affiliation... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How holistic are application reviews with GPA?
I'm a junior in a very highly academic and challenging T20 undergrad school. I have a 3.5 overall GPA after 2 years and it's going up, but I took most of the DPT pre requisite math and science classes already with a few Cs and will have just under a 3.0 math/sci GPA. Depending on the DPT program, it looks like my prerequisite GPA will also hover right at or below 3.0. I was pre-med for a bit before deciding that I am really focused on PT and know med schools don't factor in the difficulty... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Academic, federal position - a few months in
I have had some ups and downs in my career, as I've worked to find a position that facilitated some academic engagement, reasonable compensation, and allowed me to feel good about my clinical work. No job is perfect, but after several months in a new position, I think I'm the happiest I've been since residency. I took a federal position at an active duty military hospital that is a primary site for a residency program. I have a case load of 4-8 inpatients, and the residents do all the...
