How to find and apply for community jobs
Hi All, I’m a second year fellow at a heavily academic program and have decided that a life in academics is not a good fit. There’s not a lot of resources in my program for identifying and applying for community onc jobs (it’s been awhile since any of the graduating fellows chose the community path and the faculty are focused on mentoring physician scientists/clinical investigators), so I was wondering how/where y’all would recommend starting? Are most opportunities publicly posted or is it... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ROCR / Beckta Podcast
So is ASTRO. Anyone listen to the latest Beckta ROCR podcast? Bru-tal. ROCR cannot be developed with hidden info and secretive measures by ASTRO leadership. ROCR requires total transparency, level playing field (no more exempt stuff) and site neutral care. Hint: Trying to beat the AHA and Major Academic Centers feasting on Protons is about as likely as you winning the Powerball homie Connie Mantz, nice guy, but dude.. its time to step up to the microphone and speak clearly. Balancing Student Health: The Role of Assignment Writing Services
IntroductionIn today's fast-paced academic environment, students often find themselves juggling multiple responsibilities, including coursework, extracurricular activities, part-time jobs, and social life. As a result, their physical and mental well-being can sometimes take a back seat. For this reason, many students turn to write my assignments services, which have emerged as a potential solution to help students maintain a balance between their academic demands and... Getting my training license reinstated 6 years after voluntarily leaving residency
I voluntarily left my FM residency in 2018 towards the end of my PGY2 due to personal reasons. No known academic/professionalism issues and was encouraged to stay by the PD, but she was understanding of my reasons for leaving and was very supportive through the process. 1.5 years later the personal issues were addressed and I applied for a medical license to work as a general practitioner in that state. A committee with the state medical board wanted to meet with me about my application... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How can I help you? (advice/chat)
Hi! I was recently accepted into two schools for the 2024-2025 academic year. I have some free time at work and would love to offer any advice that I can. Some background information on me (maybe you'll resonate with it!): I graduated early with my mechanical engineering degree (non-trad applicant) and studied for the MCAT on and off for five months after taking my first MCAT on New Year's Day, 2023 (497). I used Anki to study, primarily did practice questions (correcting them after... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MCG Campus Pick: Augusta vs. Athens vs. Savannah
I recently got accepted to MCG Early Decision and I got an email approaching me about my campus preference. I need help deciding which campus would suit me best. I'm keeping an open mind about what kind of specialty I'm interested in, but I want to keep my options open if I possibly want to pursue competitive specialties like Dermatology, ENT, IR, etc. I think I lean towards academic medicine rather than community medicine. Here's the pros and cons i've gathered about the 3 campuses... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

New grad IM hospitalist salary?
Strongly considering going into IM, but want to go with my eyes wide open. Also want to be in California What is the typical (i.e. median) salary for an IM hospitalist who just finished residency at Kaiser Permanente in Nor Cal? Is it different in SoCal? And what is the typical IM hospitalist salary at an academic hospital (e.g. Stanford, UCLA)? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

The system is broken, example #4728262
Part of my academic gig involves an embedded clinic with a medical subspecialist. I love this work--by working side by side with my medical colleague (often seeing the patients together) I can address issues that are very hard to get to in separate clinics. But here's one real annoying thing. Epic won't let us schedule the same patient on both of our scheudles at the same time. You know what IS possible? Double or even triple booking patients on an individual schedule. So the physically... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Leaving job after a year
Current IM PGY-3, goal is primary care. Currently at a big academic center (not in NYC). A very long story but husband will be working in NYC for either 1 year or 3 years & we wont know which until Spring 2025. Abundance of PCP jobs but most expecting 2-3 year commitment. Hospitalist in NYC is seemingly nightmarish (so will PC probably but at least I like that…). UC is very FM/EM recruiting & I obviously cannot see kids. Would I be absolutely screwing myself over if I took one of these jobs... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What subspecialties can have a week on, week off schedule in academia?
I’ve realised a week on, week off schedule is the most valuable thing for me in terms of being able to visit my family in another country more often. At the same time, I do want to remain in academia (and the low salary isn’t a problem for me as I do have another source of income and don’t have loans). I know stroke and NCC are doable, but are other specialties like epilepsy also possible? At my residency, the epileptologists have a normal clinic schedule and not a week on week off schedule... Cedars Sinai Anesthesiologist Spills the Beans
Link to full post here This money hungry, VIP catering institution would run over any employee in the pursuit of a loose dollar on the floor while clapping for the “healthcare hero”. This became ever apparent in the management of the Anesthesiology department at Cedars Sinai when they decided to renegotiate the contract of their 100+ anesthesiologists much to chagrin of all employed. This supposed academic institution which prides itself on the label is anything but an academic... Click to expand... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
