Systematic Review Examining the Association of Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitor and Angiotensin Receptor Blocker Prescription with Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Growth and Events
CONCLUSION: There was no association between ACEi or ARB prescription and AAA growth, but ACEi prescription was associated with a reduced risk of AAA rupture and AAA related events with very low certainty of evidence.PMID:38537880 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2024.03.034 (Source: PubMed: Eur J Vasc Endovasc ...)

Rapid formation of aortoesophageal fistula complicated by mycotic thoracic aortic aneurysm secondary to infective endocarditis
Rev Esp Enferm Dig. 2024 Mar 25. doi: 10.17235/reed.2024.10397/2024. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 73-year-old man was admitted with four weeks of intermittent fever. He had a history of total aortic arch replacement for aortic arch aneurysm four years prior. CT scans showed no abnormalities before admission. Repeated blood cultures yielded Streptococcus anginosus and Prevotella melaninogenica, suggesting infective endocarditis (IE). Transesophageal echocardiography revealed a vegetation on the aortic valve, confirming IE. He suddenly presented with massive hematemesis and hypotension. Endoscopy revealed an elevated lesi...

Long Term Outcomes of the Gore Excluder Low Permeability Endoprosthesis for the Treatment of Infrarenal Aortic Aneurysms
CONCLUSION: This multicentre study of real-world endovascular aneurysm repair data utilising the Gore Excluder LP endoprosthesis demonstrated robust long term survival and re-intervention rates, despite 37.9% of patients being treated outside IFU, with type 4 endoleak being rare. Treatment outside IFU significantly increased re-intervention rates and 1 year sac growth was associated with statistically significantly worse survival.PMID:38527519 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2024.03.028 (Source: PubMed: Eur J Vasc Endovasc ...)

Comparison of Open Thoracoabdominal Repair for Chronic Aortic Dissections and Aneurysms
Aortic dissection is common in patients undergoing open surgical repair of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm (TAAA). Most often, dissection is chronic and is associated with progressive aortic dilatation. Because contemporary outcomes in chronic dissection are not clearly understood, we compared patient characteristics and outcomes after open TAAA repair between patients with chronic dissection and those with non-dissection aneurysm. Comprehensive Aortic Training Course Using Cadaveric Pulsatile Flow Models to Improve Open and Endovascular Skills Throughout the Entire Spectrum of RAAA Management
The nationwide decline in the incidence of ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (RAAA) and open aortic aneurysm repair threatens with decreasing trainee experience across the US, which needs to be addressed. Due to the emergency nature of RAAAs, teaching is less emphasized during these cases. Consequently, it is imperative to provide a dedicated environment to educate trainees in a safe and stress-free manner. To improve the skillset and experience of vascular trainees in the management of RAAA we created a comprehensive RAAA training course which provides an opportunity to practice the entire spectrum of RAAA management in ...

Correlation Between Calcium Scoring and Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Endovascular Repair Outcomes
Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR), though minimally invasive, is associated with many reinterventions and complications. Several variables have been studied to predict the outcomes of EVAR, one of which is the calcium burden of the vasculature. This prompted us to explore the correlation between the calcium burden of different aortic segments measured by the standardized Agatston scoring system, and the outcomes of EVAR.
