The effects of prophylactic tadalafil use on VEGF expression in the rabbit model of steroid-induced femoral head avascular necrosis
CONCLUSION: This study has shown us that femoral head osteonecrosis can be reliably induced with LPS and corticosteroid, as described in the literature. Prophylactic tadalafil use did not decrease the occurrence of osteonecrosis significantly. However, it significantly increased VEGF expression in the femoral head independent of the effects of steroids and LPS.PMID:37850239 | DOI:10.5152/j.aott.2023.22188 (Source: Acta Orthopaedica et Traumatologica Turcica)

A case report of neurosyphilis coexisting with a positive MOG antibody manifested as optic neuritis
ConclusionNeurosyphilis could be a potential triggering factor for MOGAD. In patients with neurosyphilis, it is strongly recommended to perform testing for MOG antibody along with other brain disease antibodies. (Source: Frontiers in Neurology)

Single-Cell Sequencing Reveals the Optimal Time Window for Anti-Inflammatory Treatment in Spinal Cord Injury
This study performs single-cell RNA sequencing by profiling the tissue proximity to the injury site at different time points after SCI. Depending on the analysis of single-cell data and histochemistry observation, an appropriate time window for anti-inflammatory medicine treatment is proposed. This work also verifies the mechanism of typical anti-inflammatory medicine methylprednisolone sodium succinate (MPSS), which is found attributable to the activation inhibition of cells with pro-inflammatory phenotype through the downregulation of pathways such as TNF, IL2, and MIF. These pathways can also be provided as targets for ...

Effect of Glucocorticoid Nanoliposomes on Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Expression in Brain Tissue of Rats with Tuberculous Meningitis
Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand). 2022 Aug 31;68(8):79-86. doi: 10.14715/cmb/2022.68.8.14.ABSTRACTTo investigate the effect of human brain-targeted nanoliposomes encapsulating methylprednisolone sodium succinate on the level of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in brain tissue of rats with tuberculous meningitis (TBM), the nanoliposome DSPE-125I-AIBZM-MPS was prepared. 180 rats were divided into normal control, TBM infection, and TBM treatment groups. The brain water content, Evans blue (EB) content, VEGF, and the gene and protein expression of receptors (Flt-1, Flk-1) of rats after modeling were measured. The brain ...
