Experience of treatment in critical Guillain-Barre Syndrome case after COVID-19 vaccination
CONCLUSIONS: For patients with previous radiculitis, COVID-19 vaccination may increase the susceptibility to GBS. Thus, it is recommended to extend the vaccination interval for these patients and ensure that any potential increased risk is continually assessed.PMID:38590219 | DOI:10.1002/jdn.10325 (Source: International Journal of Developmental Neuroscience)

Physicochemical and microbiological stability study of two new preservative-free methylprednisolone eye drops
CONCLUSIONS: 1 mg/ml MTPSS eye drops show physicochemical and microbiological stability for 21 days under refrigeration, compared to 42 days for 10 mg/ml eye drops stored under the same conditions. However, since they do not include preservatives in their composition, they should not be used for more than 7 days after opening.PMID:38570209 | DOI:10.1016/j.farma.2024.01.007 (Source: Farmacia Hospitalaria)

Refined Sound Therapy in Combination with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to Treat Tinnitus: A Randomized Controlled Trial
CONCLUSIONS: (1) This new combination is more effective than post-auricular injection of lidocaine and methylprednisolone sodium succinate in treating tinnitus and improving psychological symptoms. The latter had no effect on improving psychological indicators. (2) With this combination, patients with different tinnitus frequencies experienced different improvements in anxiety. (3) Low-frequency tinnitus seems have been more likely to cause sound adaptation. (4) The improvement in tinnitus and anxiety was the same regardless of whether or not there was hearing loss.PMID:38518137 (Source: Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine)

Clinical manifestations and outcomes in tubulointerstitial nephritis and uveitis syndrome: a case report and a systematic review in China
ConclusionTINU syndrome is prone to misdiagnosis because kidney damage may not occur simultaneously with uveitis. The incidence of kidney sequelae in children is lower than that in adults, and glucocorticoids are the preferred treatment.INPLASY registration number INPLASY202350050. Epidemiological age-based differences in traumatic spinal cord injury patients: A multicenter study based on 13,334 inpatients
CONCLUSIONS: As the first study to focus on age differences of TSCI patients in China, this study found many differences, in demographic and clinical characteristics, treatment status, and economic costs, between older and younger TSCI patients. The number and proportion of elderly patients increased, and the rate of early surgery for elderly patients is low.PMID:38426946 | DOI:10.1080/10790268.2024.2309716 (Source: Journal of Spinal Cord Medicine)
