Gender inclusivity in women's health research

BJOG. 2022 May 21. doi: 10.1111/1471-0528.17231. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe advent of greater inclusivity of minority groups in research and clinical trials is long overdue. The historical lack of representation of women and gender minorities in the medical literature has led to an over-reliance on male physiology and experience to understand disease. It is important to recognise that to understand and respond to the known health disparities among groups that research needs to consider sex and gender-diverse people. We recommend gender additive language in the context of women's health research to ensure that women and gender diverse groups are recognised.PMID:35596700 | DOI:10.1111/1471-0528.17231
