Vaccination after infection with COVID-19 reduces likelihood of Long Covid, finds study of 28,000 people, UK Covid Vaccine Research Hub

A new study carried out by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), has found that people who are vaccinated after being infected with COVID-19 are less likely to experience the symptoms of Long Covid. It is the largest study of its kind to date. Up to 6% of adults in England are estimated to have experienced long-term symptoms after infection with COVID-19 since the pandemic began. In October 2021, an estimated 1.2 million people had reported experiencing long covid, with two thirds of these having symptoms severe enough to limit their day-to-day life. For the purposes of this study, Long Covid symptoms were defined as headaches, insomnia, muscle ache, loss of taste, memory problems, and difficulty concentrating which had continued for at least 12 weeks after infection.
