Not an awkward high school dance! Highlighting the growing importance of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in chronic limb-threatening ischemia

Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) are validated tools used to collect patient-reported outcomes for a given therapeutic or intervention for a given disease state. In particular, PROMs measure comparative effectiveness, cost comparisons, and the use of shared decision-making.1,2 PROMs have become increasingly important for a variety of disease states to improve patient-centered care and control costs.1,2 Currently, value-based reimbursement models do not include PROMs. However, there is increasing discussion as to how to create statistical analysis plans and measurement scales to reliably tie PROM measurements to value-based reimbursement.
