Racial and ethnic diversity have long been lacking in urology. Dr. Ghanney Simons et al. quantify this disparity by examining the historical trends and current state of racial representation in medicine and urology at each stage of the pipeline to becoming a practicing urologist in the US. Black and Latinx applicants are underrepresented at every time point, a disparity that only worsens in more senior positions. The pool of URiM applicants for urology programs lags in comparison to the national population.
