While there are extensive guidelines defining sepsis and its appropriate management, there are very few validated risk scores, clinical trials, or guidelines to help determine the disposition for patients with suspected sepsis within the acute care setting. With most sepsis patients being admitted to the hospital, further evaluation of sepsis patients that are discharged could improve resource management.
