ConclusionsRegardless of a patient ’s baseline symptom severity, CBT and ADM-c both prevent depressive relapse substantially better than medication discontinuation. Given the shorter duration of treatment and equivalent longer-term outcomes, treatment with CBT might be considered a first choice for adults with depression.

Epub 2021 Jul 1.ABSTRACTIllicit drug use and cognitive distortions confer significant risks to youth suicidal thoughts and behaviors. However, there has been limited evidence regarding the efficacy of suicide prevention interventions with homeless youth, especially studies testing whether such interventions can reduce the risk for suicidal ideation associated with illicit drug use. Suicidal homeless youth (N = 150) between the ages of 18 to 24 years were recruited from a drop-in center. Youth were randomly assigned to Cognitive Therapy for Suicide Preventi...

This study suggests that interactions between a child, parent, and therapist during CBT sessions may be affected by the culture in which the CBT session occurs, which could have implications for culturally adapted CBT programs.PMID:35027157 | DOI:10.1016/j.beth.2021.05.008

ConclusionThese findings suggest that the most robust model of cognitive-emotional processes driving maladaptive regulatory behavior in daily life includes both cognitive control and trait negative affectivity. This model appears useful across diagnostic groups and findings provide preliminary support for the consideration of these behaviors as a class. These results suggest key targets for future research, including the consideration of these behaviors as a class, in treatment.

Conclusions: The short- and long-term impact of discontinuous change varied by type of treatment package. Identifying strategies within treatment packages and client processes that are associated with gains and spikes may help to inform treatment planning and clinical decision-making. This article reports on a pilot study of a parent-only cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) programme for parents of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and anxiety difficulties. Twenty-one parents of anxious children with ASD (5-11 of age) completed the From Timid to Tiger intervention. Parent outcome measures were assessed at post-intervention and at 3-month follow-up. Analysis indicated significant reductions in both parent and clinician reports of child anxiety symptoms. Specifically, 38% of children were free of their primary diagnosis at treatment end and this increased to 57% when measured at 3-month follow...

AbstractRationaleReinforcer pathology (RP) is a theoretical model based on two processes: delay discounting (DD) and drug demand. Given that RP has been shown to have a predictive value on smoking behaviors, several studies have explored which interventions can reduce RP. Consistent with the RP framework, episodic future thinking (EFT) has shown effects on treatment outcomes and RP processes. The vast majority of studies that assess the effects of EFT on RP consist of experimental studies, and no previous research has tested these effects in a clinical sample of smokers.ObjectivesThe primary aim of this study was to assess...
