Genomic analysis for single nucleotide polymorphisms (Asp299Gly and Thr399lle) in Japanese patients with invasive aspergillosis.

Genomic analysis for single nucleotide polymorphisms (Asp299Gly and Thr399lle) in Japanese patients with invasive aspergillosis. Jpn J Infect Dis. 2015 Mar 13; Authors: Aki K, Okubo Y, Nanjo H, Ishiwatari T, Nihonyanagi Y, Tochigi N, Wakayama M, Nemoto T, Fukutake K, Shinozaki M, Hori Y, Masuda H, Shibuya K Abstract Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the gene encoding Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), 1063A/G (Asp299Gly) and 1363C/T (Thr399Ile), have been reported to be associated with increased susceptibility to invasive aspergillosis. However, little is known regarding the prevalence of such SNPs in Japan. We therefore surveyed these SNPs in the TLR4 gene using formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue blocks from autopsies of patients diagnosed with invasive pulmonary aspergillosis. Finally, approximately 30% of cases were available for genomic analysis and none of them showed the SNPs: 1063A/G (Asp299Gly) and 1363C/T (Thr399Ile). The present study shed some light on the prevalence of SNPs in the TLR4 gene in Japanese patients with invasive aspergillosis. Namely, these SNPs in the TLR4 gene play a minor role in Japanese patients with invasive aspergillosis. PMID: 25766605 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
