Experience of abdominoplasty and analysis of the risk factors

Conclusions: Abdominoplasty is a common plastic surgery procedure associated with an increased risk for complications in certain patients. In our study,a high complication rate was observed, probably because our population was mostly obese and many cases needed an additional procedure. There are no clear guidelines for the surgeon to choose the best surgical candidate. However, risk factors should be taken into consideration, and explained to the patient before the surgical decision.PMID:34866546

Mol Biol Rep. 2022 Jan 13. doi: 10.1007/s11033-021-07048-8. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBACKGROUND: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death globally, despite the recent advancements in clinical research. Early diagnosis of CVD and prevention of future complications are important for the management of CVD. In the present study, we determined the genotypic linkage of interleukin-6 (IL-6) promoters with the clinical, biochemical, and inflammatory markers of CVD in the Saudi population.MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study consisted of 89 patients (male and female) with CVD who were admitted at the King Abdulaz...

We report the case of a 70-year-old patient, with history of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), diabetes mellitus (DM) and persistent left malum perforans in the last year, with development of a severe and debilitating Staphylococcus aureus-related SA of the left ankle, which posed significant therapeutic challenges. He developed a plantar lesion at the ball of the left foot, in the past one year, which was labeled as malum perforans in the setting of DM. Musculoskeletal ultrasound was the primary imaging technique used to define the location and extent of the infectious process. Cultures drawn from the tissue were positive for S....

ObjectiveTo study the association between pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes of singleton pregnancies after assisted reproductive technology (ART).MethodsThis hospital-based retrospective cohort study of women with live singleton births through ART in China from January 2015 to August 2020 included 3043 Chinese women. According to the latest BMI classification standard of Asian women, the women included in this study were classified as underweight (BMI

This study aims to add to the body of evidence linking obesity as an established risk factor for COVID-19 infection and also look at predictors of mortality for COVID-19 in the African-Americans (AA) population.MethodsA retrospective cohort study of patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection was done in a community hospital in New York City. The cohort was divided into two groups, with the non-obese group having a BMI

Conclusion: Our findings show an association between CRP and HTN among Ghanaian migrants and urban-Ghanaian women, however, this was largely explained by conventional risk factors. Thus, prevention of conventional risk factors, in particular obesity, may help to reduce the potentially low-grade inflammatory mechanism underlying HTN.

Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the association of sodium intake (g/day) and sodium load (Na-L; mg/kcal/day) on arterial stiffness in youth. Methods: A cross-sectional analysis of 723 youth enrolled in a study evaluating the cardiovascular effects of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Three measures of arterial stiffness were evaluated: brachial distensibility (BrachD), carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (PWVcf) and augmentation index (AIx). Three-day diet histories yielded mean daily sodium and calorie intake. Youth were divided into Na-L tertiles: Low (≤1.67 mg/kcal per day); Me...
